Volt meter Bouncing
« on: May 17, 2021, 08:27:07 PM »

Hi guys I was out the other day and I noticed that the volt meter on my 2015 CVO Street glide was swinging around.  It will dip below 14V and then go into the red 15V? its only there for a second as it is always moving, the weird part is it seems to happen when I am at 2k RPM or higher.

Does the Twin come with a two stage Voltage regulator?

Thoughts or seen anything like this?

Your battery maybe dying. Check it out.

Check the battery connections to make sure they're tight.

If it's not caused by the battery, next check the voltage regulator.

Have fixed bouncing gauges for multiple reasons:

Bad regulator x several
Bad gauge x 2
Loose bad cable/wire connecton x 2

Pick your poison.  Recommendation is always start shotgunning the problem (if you can't directly diagnose) with the cheapest/easiest option first.

Thanks guys.

I will check the battery connections first, then see someone about the regulator.

Anyone got an idea on what a new regulator is going to set me back??

Had the same issue with my '15 CVO Street Glide (while away in Arkansas to boot!) ....Threw a new voltmeter in since I didn't want to go to a dealer...didn't fix it.....ended up being the speedo/tach assembly. Check the voltage at the battery and see if that is steady.
