When I talked to The Pool Boy on Tuesday, he said the powers to be and that are have been very-very Hush-Hush on the new/old  2022 models. He did say that all but one type will have 2 wheels, 1 engine, a seat, handlebars with controls, headlight, tail light, turn signals, speedometer, and exhaust pipes. The other type has 3 wheels and all the above. All will be available in various colors and options. It may be March before they are in your dealers showrooms! No pricing has been decided on as of this printing. GOOD LUCK!

^What Mike said.

Also, the pictures of the new bikes will not look anywhere near as good as the 2022 bikes when you see them in person.

The new CVO colors will be judged the most harshly, because everyone knows that their pre-2022 CVO is the best color combo Harley ever made & the new ones blow chunks.  ;D

I have not REALLY liked any colors since the '12 FLHXSE3 in Ruby/Typhoon. Traded it because of ongoing reliability issues due to dealer fingers.....I didn't buy it to just look pretty.....I bought it to ride!

Some of the older CVO paint sets were better. Unique. The last few years have not noticed anything that looked as special.  Some of the newer CVO paint is not unique, it looks like HD cheaped out.  But the price on the bikes didn't follow suit.  After the last few years would not take a lot for the 2022 CVO paint to be considered a huge improvement.  Would not bet a nickel on that happening.

Walking with a cane, is it because everyone keeps kicking him in the shines for leading us on about great changes coming to the H-D line up?

I am also riding a NON CVO RG...it's a 2020 Limited in Zephyr Blue....looks better than the CVO's did this year. Still have my '15 CVO SG...but the Roadglide bug bit me bad.....might want to try to find a '19 Mako Shark. That paint scheme is the most recent that I really like.

All of the 2019 CVO Roadglide paint schemes are badass in my opinion and they seem to hold their value because of it

I like the 2019 CVO Roadglide Mako Shark fade....but my 2020 Limited is pretty nice also...it's kind of hard to see the graphics in the pic though

I concur. The CVOs in my opinion for the last couple of years have not made the cut. Blacked out and dull paint just not appealing to me. Not digging on people that own them, if you like it buy it.
As far as RG CVOs go.....You can't beat the 09' eagle head! Now that is a good lookin bike.

Any rumors or news when the 22 Line Up will be announced. I did not like any of the 21s.
I hate they shrunk the bags, they spoke’d the rims.

All HD bikes will have to be ordered just like the trucks are now. No more bikes sitting on showroom floors. And dealers will be charging 5k to 10k over for all bikes...

2022 CVO rumors
« Reply #27 on: December 27, 2021, 10:18:42 AM »

Hi all,

In the past years someone usually starts a thread talking about rumors or wishes and hopes for the new model year. With the announcements coming out soon, January 26th, I thought I would ask what has been heard. I have a deposit at my dealer for a CVO RG, hoping that they come out with one and secondly that I like the colors and schemes. Thoughts on what may happen??

The dealers are full of crap

Don't they have to order them in specific colors and models?  Somebody at the dealer knows what's coming.

The colors are available to dealers (except CVO's) already so they can order specific colors they want.

So then the models are available to dealers as well, which is my point.  They have a chart showing which colors are available on which models.

So they know what's coming and what's going

That's always been the case prior to them arriving (other than the CVO's).

Next year's non CVO bike colors have been published for over a month now. I've never seen CVO colors announced before the meeting.

Once in a while the CVO colors get leaked or one of the colors gets leaked, but thats not often.

So then the models are available to dealers as well, which is my point.  They have a chart showing which colors are available on which models.

So they know what's coming and what's going

They only have a chart for the models that will be consistent from one year to the next (in this case, where 2022 models will be consistent with 2021 offerings).  For new models, the factory sends them a set number in the colors that the factory chooses for the first ordering period.  The dealer has little or no say in these units until they place an order after the dealer show.

Yes, they have been given a list of models that are no longer going to be offered well in advance.  I don't know them off the top of my head, but I think there are about 3.

Anybody heard anything about the new 2022's yet? Sure wish they would come out with a new Brandywine  with Candy Red flames  cvo RoadKing again. I would have to jump on that one.

Not impressed.  At least the fork legs are chrome.  Love the black but if you ride it sucks as it looks like crap in 10K miles.

Just read a motorcycle.com article where they show a screenshot of some audio installation instructions with special details for 2022 FLTRKSE.  Looks like those of you who have been holding out for a Shark Limited may get some love next week.

For a company whose target audience are seniors, you would think HD would follow the lead of other motorcycle makers and add reverse. At least put reverse on the CVOs.  How many posts have we seen with members talking about having a bad back, and getting knees, hips, shoulders replaced.

This is 2022, HD needs to take care of its aging market share.

I don't see that happening. I'm guessing a rehash of the red they've used on the previous three years of it's existence. No offense to the red lovers out there but HD needs to be more creative with this bike. It just screams old man paint for most colors.

Loved those colors, just didn't care for the patterns they used that year.

I don't think this is the year I buy a bike, but I will certainly be drooling over these in the showroom (unless they do something silly).

Yeah, I noticed that. I thought maybe because I was looking on my phone and couldn't scroll down far enough.

One thing I'm really disappointed in is the fact they used the same paint scheme on all 3  bikes. Change the fairing and that's it. RG gets orange, SG gets yellow and the RGL gets both while the other two also share 2 other colors

Probably saved my wallet this year.  I like BOTH the orange and yellow.  I just won't be buying a RG.  I also ain't going to do a Street Glide and build it up.

I did like the FXLRST and the RG/SG ST bikes.  I am just done buying bikes with black instead of chrome.  The chrome just stands up better to the road as time passes.

Let the complaining begin. I think HD did a nice job with the launch.

Most of you will bitch about the bikes paint, engine, etc.

No Ultra CVO Limited this year, WTF

Yep, astonishing, I always thought it was the best selling CVO.  Orange and - especially - yellow paint on the Road Glides are really nice.  But - just my opinion - the RG itself is one of the ugliest bikes ever dreamed up, If there were a yellow FLHTKSE I might have been tempted.

Colors are an improvement over the last few years.  Looks like the bigger engine predictions were from the wrong Pool Boy.  Will have to take a look at some of those wheels in person, am guessing the pics don't do them justice.

Glad to see a step up on the paint options.  No CVO Ultra Limited, guess they are giving it a rest & are focusing on the RGs instead.

I used to think so also...then it grew on me...then I rode one and was hooked. It eats up the miles so much easier.  If I could find a '19 Mako Shark CVO RG I would seriously consider trading my '15 CVO Street Glide in for it. I ride my 2020 Road Glide Limited more Than my CVO Street Glide now.

Let the complaining begin. I think HD did a nice job with the launch.

Most of you will bitch about the bikes paint, engine, etc.
With good reason. Same paint style across 3 different models and multiple paint schemes crossing models also.

FLTRKSE and FLTRXSE both have identical orange paint.

FLTRKSE and FLHXSE both have identical yellow paint.

Both the FLTRXSE and FLHXSE share the other two colors and paint schemes.

FLTRKSE and CVO trike both share the same paint scheme.

5 total paint schemes and colors across 4 models.

I know several people that have been waiting for a CVO RG Ultra for a while. I think the last one they built was in 2016.

I'll bet that Dante's Red Fade is absolutely gorgeous in person and especially in the direct sunlight.

Correct on everything. That Red Fade looks a whole lot like the color scheme from the 2010 CVO Ultra to me.

No Ultra CVO Limited this year, WTF

I'm pleased that they finally took a break from producing them... The Ultra/Limited is the only model that has been consistently produced every year for a straight 17 years!  It was definitely time for a break.  Hopefully they will come back with something really exciting.

Glad to see better colour schemes this year, but they still have a long way to go to repeat the glory days of the past IMHO.

I like others like the CVO yellow or orange road glides.  I’ll be happy for anyone who gets one but $3000 for paint and $1000 surcharge gets it to $50k with freight plus whatever surcharge the stealer wants to add on.  Will just keep riding the 14.

Both CVO's I have had the black fork legs looked like crap by 20K miles.  My 19 looked so bad at 20K they were covered under warranty.  Second set slightly better, took 35K to look as bad as first set.  If you put more than 20K a year, chrome is the way to go.

Rather disappointed that the CVO did not get a bigger motor.  Motor was one of the reasons to go CVO but its in many bikes now.  I always felt when the 114 went into the specials, that the CVO should have gone up in size.

The Road Glide ST is only 2K less than my 09 CVO Road Glide was.

I'm Not so happy about paying $3K extra for what has always been part of the CVO Package.

I was astonished to see that the orange and yellow paint jobs are extra cost.   That makes the CVO RG cost around US$56,000 in the UK.  I can't see how any person in their right mind would pay that for the quality and reliability that we've become too used to.  A Ford Mustang costs less here!

“Underwhelming”
IMHO

The 131 should be in the CVO

I’m glad I got my 19 batwing when I did and spent the $$$$ to get the power and ride quality where it should be without having to buy the new model and do it all over again!
I’ve got about 50 k miles on this bike and smile every time we go riding.

OK I have seen this mentioned a couple of times....I know the frame was changed in 08'. I rode to the 105th in Mill-town. Great event. So my point or question is..What more can you do to this frame? A frame is a frame right? To me the shocks are the comfort makers.

You're asking for things that might be covered in master's classes in geometry, structural dynamics, and various types of suspension technologies.  For the purposes of all of us old fart riders, however, no; not all frames are the same.

Just a single tube (a "single cradle") frame is what most everything started with over a century ago.  Even most bicycles don't do this anymore.  Because they're flexible.  In ways that were not good.  Single cradles frames led to duplex frames.  That's two tubes going back with structural support in between.  Much less flexible.  And things have moved forward with varying types of triangulation and support from there.

The goal is to make frames stiffer (think FXR versus others of its day).  But you can go too far.  And none of that speaks to the geometry of the front wheel (angle, how how far forward, etc) or the triangulation/triangle that is a swingarm and how it is hung and supported/attached.

There is a lot going on underneath us.

I guess I should have said new frame with better suspension over all. Billy Just want a better ride without paying more to upgrade everything

Got it.  And I lean the other way.  I've got the FXR2 that's old. And the old Road Glide that's old.  And the old Road King; that's also old.  They've all good suspension front and rear.  I don't ride them hard enough to outride the capabilities of even the old frames anymore.  So what I've got is good enough.  And they're all dialed in to me.  Other manufacturer's may not have levels of annoyance that I don't have patience for baked in to their modernization.  Harley too often has.  So I'm happy where I am.

Only thing I would care to have that I'm missing is ABS.  If I wanted it that bad I could do that on the Road Glide or the Road King.  And I haven't.  So that probably speaks volumes to how much I really want it.

OK I have seen this mentioned a couple of times....I know the frame was changed in 08'. I rode to the 105th in Mill-town. Great event. So my point or question is..What more can you do to this frame? A frame is a frame right? To me the shocks are the comfort makers.

Not an engineer.  The frame is 14 years old.  The suspension technology is that old.  The amount of travel on the rear is not very much.  The ability to absorb harsh bumps is poor when compared to my 2021 Pan America, an 2021 Indian Challenger, a 2020 Gold Wing a 2020 BMW GTL or Bagger.  They all have more suspension travel than a touring bike by Harley in 2022.  The BMW, Goldwing and Pan America have electronics in the suspension and can change ride modes to adjust the suspension, firmer or softer.  Ride modes and change lots of other stuff.  These bikes also cost thousands less then a CVO.

Harley needs a Frame for the touring bike that can accommodate modern motorcycle suspension and suspension adjustability especially at the 45K plus price point.

Harley has the technology and the parts to make a great touring bike.
I would expect to see the 131 engine in the CVO once they pay for CA CARB certification.

The new revolution engine makes good power, if they would make a touring bike 200 lbs lighter (like the bmw gtl) with decent suspension and keep the ergonomics the same as the current glide models THAT would be a nice bike!
I’ve ridden the new BMW’s. Very nice bike BUT, no “soul”.

Of course this would be a whole new bike and would probably be a departure from current design.
I’m pretty sure the designers are all over drawing future models.
I think Harley missed the boat with the V Rod platform with a touring model, that engine was a pretty nice design with good power and good potential. Friend of ours rode a V rod converted into a bagger, handling problems, didn’t end well. Project halted.

C’mon  Harley. Lighter, good suspension, modern power, good ergonomics, nice paint, comparable price point, good reliablity, etc.
Is that too much to ask?
Probably

But I can’t believe they are having a $3,000 up charge for certain paint jobs.

just wow. I was at the dealer yesterday asking about pricing on a cvo road glide. That's when I found out about the $3000 dollar paint.
All of these surcharges, and price increases I do not believe will go away.
