2008 SESG, Screamin Eagle Street Glide
« on: April 01, 2007, 12:14:03 PM »

I was in the dealer yesterday and ordered my 2008 SESG.

Well, I know that they may not be in the pipeline but why take a chance.  I figure the SEUC will be gone this year since it has been with us two years now and what better bagger to do the CVO thing to than a Street Glide.

Anyway here's hopin' tht the MoCo has the same line of thinking goin' and I'll be the first on my block to have one.  When I told the manager to put me on the list she asked what color?  I told her as dark as possible, [referably Black if it's in the major design of the paint scheme, crap, I think I'll call back and tell her unless there is a  :pumpkin: .

I love the orange Road Glide B B has and the bikes like d00d's.

Oh well, something to dream about anyway.

Screamin Eagle Electra Glide two years in a row then Screamin Eagle Ultra Classic two years in a row..........don't think it will be another Electra Glide chassis.  My guess would be a Screamin Eagle Road Glide......can we add the 120" motor and ABS brakes.......good to go.

Wake up Rog!
I ordered 2 in Feb.

That's the plan, unless I find a 03 S/B Classic for Nancy!
Whats really bad, I have the sterling silver lighted saddlebag spoilers for a bike I don't even own.
A fine 95" 115 H/P in a 03 S/B Classic will keep me from screwing with those 02 sensors in the 08's.
And save me about 50K!

Look at the best selling models out there.
The 04's, the 05's, the 06's, the 07's.
Not trying to hurt anybody's feelings but R/G's didn't excite the population like the EG's and UC's.
And imagine this, Harley is all about turning over units for profit.
There is glory in making a better bike but there is profit in making bikes everyone wants.
Guess which one wins, Glory or Profit?

 :2vrolijk_21:

And to add,
On this site look at

SEUC   17,177 post    813 topics
SEEG   23,841 post    1206 topics
SERG   1587 post       177 topics

I like a R/G but if Harley is about profit, guess the direction they will go using this board as a guideline. :nixweiss:

I'll have to agree w/Chip on this. Nothing against RG's, but I feel the SG's were introduced because of how well the 04 & 05 SEEG sold. I think it's about time that a SESG was introduced.  Going to throw a little kink in the train of thought here. What if the MoCo departed from all the chrome additions on a CVO and come out w/a blacked out version of a CVO (like the 1200 Sportster Nightser and VRSCDX Night Rod). How do you think that would sell?

I am hoping for 2008 SERG and yes I already have 1st dibs at my local dealer
If it happens to be a 2008 SESG I may go with it also but if I could have my way Road Glide
I would also bet that if the MoCo does a SERG all Million  3,600 of them will be sold
Oh yeah 120" Motor, ABS Brakes and more bling....please

Also like the FLHX very much.  In fact it is one of my two favorite "stock" models (can't make up my mind from day to day).  My one thought on an FLHXSE, however, is how it would be implemented.  Would very curious how the kitchen sink approach of adding so much to the bikes stock would be done on a model whose forte' is being stripped down and clean.

Well, to an extent I'd have to agree with you Chip.  The numbers tell a story.  And I think the majority prefer the Electra Glide over the Road Glide as far as Harley OCD goes.  If you take a look at all bikes with the Goldwing style fairing, then that might not prove to be the case.  Anyway, take the Road Glide and throw a bigger motor in it and a couple other new features (ABS?) and they'll sell there fare share of SERGs.

Having said that.......I'd rather see a SE Street Glide.  Wouldn't that be a SEEG with a rear fender extension? :2vrolijk_21:

We know the SERK will have one more year to go.  You think there's even a possibility they'd skip a year before adding another touring model back in to the mix?

If they did the might feel they'd be far enough way (in time) from the original platform to do a SEEG3.  Who knows.....   I'll still always bet on the SE Servicar.

Gary, I've been a sucker for the black out theme since I saw my first Sportster that way back in the 70's.  I love the nightster, just doesn't suit my riding regimin.

That's why I was thinking the blacked out/black chrome version. Still looks minimal, but a custom touch added. Then add the extra electronics (GPS, Bluetooth, etc), and bump the motor up, maybe even offer it w/a chopped tourpak. :nixweiss:

Screamin Eagle Electra Glide two years in a row then Screamin Eagle Ultra Classic two years in a row..........don't think it will be another Electra Glide chassis.  My guess would be a Screamin Eagle Road Glide......can we add the 120" motor and ABS brakes.......good to go.

Now we're talkin.  Just what I had in mind.

Just like last year I am on the list for one with my Dealer.  If it is not the RG I am not required to buy it and I won't.  It is all about the quality of the ride for me and the RG does it for me.  The fact that there are less of them on the roads is a big plus for me.

I've got my name down for a SERG at my local dealer, but The more I ride the SEEG the more I like what I got. I still think a SESG is redundant. The SESG from the get go was inspired by the SEEG but on a budget. Also, Up until a few years ago The MoCo was selling quite a few base model EG standards. Guys would buy them and customize to their taste, the SG was a perfect answer to this.

Last year it was announced HD entered into an agreement with with Lehman Trikes, the Servicar SE concept may not be far off. ;D

 :pumpkin:
Ride Safe,

 :fireman:
That would sell good in Europe. But in states i guess you gotta feed the OCD where the 90% of the CVO market is.I wouldnt buy a blacked out bike. But it may be nice as a color option.Like 2 bikes with ocd bling with custom paint and a blacked out one.

Mr. Sands ( founder) of Performance machine indicated the FLHX was HD's most popular model on "American Thunder" recently .. it would make sense.  I think I'll just make my own if I get my FXDWG3 sold .  with the 103 instead of the 110 .  After riding the 110" CVO road king on friday , while I liked it , I wasn't wowed by the motor. my 95" has more guts

I just can't wait for July's intro show, they should come up with some good stuff seems there are great alternatives with the RG or the SG either way.

It's like Christmas in July.

Well, I'm ready for a tourer, the se fat boy is kick@ but I would like some cruise control and a radio.  Although I'm still in my 30's, I heard you have to be 50+ to get a tourer!  I may have to pay a surcharge.  I just want to see some better paint jobs on the rk, love the banana from a couple of years ago.  I agree, HD is going toward the blacked out look, expect one.

I bought my first dresser, a 1988 Electra Glide Classic at the mature age of 34.
Clearly then I was a lot smarter than most people in their thirties.
Had the Candy Red Classic and the Candy Red drag bike.
Something about matching colors!

I bought my first dresser, a 1988 Electra Glide Classic at the mature age of 34.
Clearly then I was a lot smarter than most people in their thirties.
Had the Candy Red Classic and the Candy Red drag bike.
Something about matching colors!
 :nixweiss:

Yep, I got my first Harley and bagger, 1976 FLH in May 1976, I was 27.  I rode it with a solo saddle and the bags of a fair amount of the time and even had the fairing off some too.  But it was a bagger most of the time.  This may be the only pic I have of it with then 5 year old RJ on it.

The MOCO should like the paint. Would be harder for us to find finger prints hidden under the clearcoat.  :carrot:

I was just at my dealer a couple days ago....the sales manager said he wouldn't be surprised if there were two cvo touring bikes next year... His thought was that they couldn't keep the Ultras on the floor so he thought they might bring them back for another year as well as a Road Glide....Like it was posted already its all about making money and the Ultra is a sure thing.  I'm first on the list if the Ultra is back.  Come July 1st we will all find out.

That wouldn't surprise me at all they had two this year. The trend is leaning more to custom touring bikes lately and the MoCo has realized that.

Well I almost pulled the trigger on a real sweet 03 Ultra with a nice stage 4 95" motor and about 8K in upgrades , but couldn't come to an agreement with the dealer. I've decided to hang on and wait till the 08's are introduced , there have been many rumors of an 08 CVO Street Glide, hopefully they will be making it. I priced out what turning a stock one into CVO spec even using a 103 motor and it really doesn't make logistical sense.

Rjbob, you have a mega sweet ride , but I've got a different path.

Good luck on selling yours , the market seems a little soft , I've got my WG3 with a stage IV motor with gear drives and another grand in upgrades goin for $17,500 and have only had 2 nibbles .  If I don't sell her it will be next spring before I get a new one.

It does look sweet, it belongs to The Hunter.  I, like you have a DWG3, but if the rumors of the SWG stopping production are accurate I may need to consider holding onto it.

I've heard they are stopping the Wide Glide too,  frankly I don't like the current one's fender much , and think the wg2/3 represent the pinacle of Dyna Styling .

I may keep it , depends on the stock market ...

another possibility......

Well my 07 Street Glide has been Screamin Eagle'd , put on the 103 kit with SE 255 cams (same as the 110"s use) and the SE "street performance touring" slip-ons /SERT .   Runs much cooler than it did as a 96" , which I attribute to the SERT.  The oil cooler arrives tuesday , will go on after break-in # 2 is done.

The new SE slip-ons are not much louder than stock , although they have a much better basso profundo tone, from 3000 up the bike and pipes wake up and have a nice growl.  The Clearview 6.5" recurve is a much better windshield..

The Diamondback braided brake lines help the feel, heated grips are on , but will have to reserve judgement till winter.  The heated Corbin Dual Tour seat is still being made.  Took my wife our for a spin , she is pushing for the Tourpack .. I reminded her my birthday is in 8 days ... Hint Hint ...

Slowly making my way to SESG level.

Thanks .. Jerry is my all time fave, I even built a tribute guitar after his famed Tiger, I'm even in the "Touch of Grey " video in the audience which was filmed at a 3 day run at Laguna Seca raceway. Grew up in Palo Alto where the Dead got their start , and went to the same college as Phil. Been a fan since the Warlocks days.

I have 2 sets of the "steal your face " covers, the black set was originally on my black FXDX.
I tried the polished on the other side , but with the black and silver engine , the black "relief" cut looks better . Now it's sort of ying /yank thing with a lil "dark star" thrown in.

The boys at the dealer and local chapter can always tell my bikes, as they always have the covers.

Thanks for the tip, I wonder if there are braided steel oil cooler hoses available anywhere?

Try your local hardware store for clear plastic tubing sold by the foot. Cut to length you need, then slice down the length with exacto knife then snap on cable. Works great, been using it for years wherever braided cable might touch paint or metal.
