On Fontana Village - some of us stayed there a few years ago (2003 or 4) and the place was not in great shape - to put it mildly.  The cabins especially had an "aroma" about them.  Lodge - hotel part was under some major renovation and it needed it.

Would be interested in a report on Fontana Village on your return.  If you have not ridden to the Fontana Dam - the view is well worth the ride over. Restaurants at the Village were ok and we enjoyed the outdoor grill the best.

I'll let you know upon my return. I've never stayed there, but the people I'm traveling with have (cabins) and they recommended them. Also I believe Duane (Porthole) stayed there a few days last year around the MV GTG and spoke positive about them.

It appeared to be undergoing a major renovation when we were there.  The location is ideal for those who like the road from there to Del's Gap (great ride!) & it's close enough to Foothills and Cherahala as well.  Big common areas - they had square dancing one night when we were there.  Car clubs have been staying there too from what I have read on Killboy.

Will be interested to read about your take on the place.

Hey Seegarsmkr, you missed it, a local bike shop Red Hills, had a band and FREE BEER last Saturday. I thought they would charge to get in and then you could have beer, but they just had a band and a keg sitting under a tent and you just got yourself a beer and listened to some music! Now that's great customer service!!!!      :orange:
