I'm not touching that tap.....        :o

 ;D

Drank some good barleywine Sat. evening.  Decided it would be best to sit awhile & "rest" before riding home.   ;)

At the risk of being labeled a "Beer Snot," recent travels have introduced a new elixer to my stock.  "Blithering Idiot" by Weyerbacher Brewing Company, Inc. Easton, PA is a fine brew.  Found this stuff while searching for Dog Fish Head "Midas Touch."  Found two bottles of "Midas Touch," which didn't last long.  Went back for more.  None to be had.  "Blithering Idiot" looked interesting at 11.1% ABV, so I tried it.  I am very pleased.  Highly recommended.

you didn't mention the style of this new found elixer so I looked it up,  A Barley wine  :2vrolijk_21:

well at 11.1% ABV this beer commands respect and must be treated with caution... it will sneak up on you without a doubt, try and drink too many of these pups in one night and you will be a  "Blithering Idiot"   :huepfenlol2:

when I find a beer like this I always get a few extra and put a few down in the cellar, aging only helps a barley wine develop more class. this ale will keep for years. expect maximum flavor complexity to peak in 2 to 3 years.  even after a decade this beer will be quite a treat, Although beyond the 3rd year most barley-wines have a tendency to decrease in complexity, so don't wait too long  :drink:

You are correct, and a fine barley wine it is.  I can't remember if Midas Touch is 11.1 or not........but it's effect is near that of Blithering Idiot.  I had two yesterday afternoon.  Needless to say.........I took a REALLY long nap.   :2vrolijk_21:

Barleywines are nap inducing, from past experience.  Will look for Blithering Idiot.  Don't drink them that often, but when I do.... hmmmmmm what do the young whippersnappers call it these days..... oh yeah. Buzzworthy.    :2vrolijk_21:

I finished a couple Barley Wines called Monster Ale from Brooklyn Brewery over the weekend.  Wow!  Definitely one at a time.

TGIF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :drink:
Stopped on the way for a Growler of this....  I'll have full report in the morning (if I'm able)

Oskar Blues Gordon

Brewer: Oskar Blues Brewery
Brewed In: Lyons, Colorado
Style: Imperial/Double IPA
Alcohol By Volume: 8.7%

Gordon is a hybrid version of strong ale, somewhere between an Imperial Red and a Double IPA. We make it with six different malts and three types of hops, then dry-hop it with a mutha lode of Amarillo hops. It features a gooey, resiny aroma and a luscious mouthfeel. Gordon is brewed with dash of chocolate malt in it, to round out its load of hops and balance the beer. The result is an assertive yet exceptionally smooth version of strong beer.
