2litre pitcher of Gorden Biersch Maazen and a large platter of wings at the Hooters in Honolulu (Aloha Tower Marketplace) set me back $75 a couple years back. First, last and only time I'll ever go to a Hooters. I can go to Pure Platinum, have 20 pairs of naked hooters inches from my face for a few $1 tips and for $20 I can get a hooter massage. If I want beer and wings, I'll buy a 12 pack and a bucket of KFC. If I want boobies, I'll go to a strip club.

Tonight was an excellent night to be a beer drinker, if you like Czech beers.  My travels took me to the Czech community of West, Texas, home of Nemecek sausages (mmmmmm), the best kolaches Mmmmmmm), and Czech beers.



Otherwise known as Budvar, brewed in Budweis, Czechoslovakia since... well that's debatable, but a heckuva long time before Bud brewed Budweiser.  No comparison to Bud - real lager taste here.




My usual favorite:



Hard to find a better Pilsner - I never have. 

It's the simple pleasures of life, and a trip back close to home, that sometimes make for a very fun evening.
