I'm glad the operation turned out OK, that's a serious one 4sure.  Take it easy, heal up and riding will be even better than before.  ;)

Dave, glad to hear all is getting back to normal for you.

My best friend and hunting partner had the same surgery for a childhood illness caused valve issue three years ago.

Since then we have been at 11,000 feet together hunting and all over the place fishing etc.  He too opted for the metal valve, too many thing to do and needs way more than 15 years to do them, no point it semms in planning on another surgery.

You are in our thoughts.  Rog

Dave,
Glad to see the operation was successful and that you're on the road to recovery.  Take your time and do what the good doc tells you and you'll be back in the saddle before you know it.  Plenty of riding season ahead.  I don't understand though why you didn't go with chrome. :huepfenlol2:
Cheers :2vrolijk_21:,

Thanks for all the new best wishes and thoughts.  ;D

I asked about chrome or stainless but this is what they reccomended,
I didn't want to void the factory warranty! :huepfenlol2:

Nice to hear about similar operations and the patient being able to return to normal life. I just hate loosing out on riding time but I guess it's best to listen to the doctor.

Hi Guys,
Thanks for the kind thoughts.
They considered looking at the HOG valve job for me but they only last about 15 years and have to be replaced. They went with carbon and titanium for me so  it would last a lifetime but I am on blood thinners.
My first time as inpatient and no real previous problems.(birth defect just got worse and affected heart rhythm)
Glad to be home resting and recovering, looking forward to riding in about a couple of months, got to let the sternum heal from the open heart operation.
Dave,
Glad to hear all went well.  I've been there with the open-heart surgery thing.  Not fun, but a necessary evil.  Listen to the docs and take your time.  All will be well, given time to heal.  Wife wants to head down that way as soon as the weather cooperates and I've got my Jester on the street.  Maybe we can get together and compare "scars". ;)

Dave, I dont know you but glad you made it thru that major surgery and now making replys on the site, a good sign.

Those titanium valves should give you alot more energy once you heal up in there, Im predicting an AF ratio of between 13.3 to 13.8 with 100lbs of torque thru all rpm ranges.

Dave,
We'll see what we can work out.  I get down that way quite often for work anyway (Naval Station).  I usually don't need an excuse to ride, but seeing a CVO pal is as good as any.  Gives me a chance to get more miles on the new bike  ;).
I'll let you know as warmer weather arrives.
Take it easy and good to see you keeping up with the posts!!

Dave,
Just got around to reading this thread....this stuff must be going around... my brother-in-law just had quad bypass ... he's doing just fine now. My wife had open heart surgery 25 years ago... I got a 250,000,000 mile warranty on her and she runs circles around me.
Hoping for the absolute best for you in your recovery! Get well & back in the saddle soon.  ;D ;)
