Adding Heated Grips - 2014 FLSTNSE

(1/1)

AJRock:
Greetings,

My wife has a 2014 Deluxe CVO without heated grips.  I'm trying to determine if it's possible to add HD heated grips.  It sounds like there are challenges with wiring in the handlebars.  I'd also like to know where to tap into the wiring system to get switched power.

I'd appreciate any and all assistance, thanks!

Mission accomplished!

I'll give you the Reader's Digest version. The left switch housing required the most work. I used a Dremel tool to create a path for the wires to travel thru before they entered the handlebars. The right grip was plug and play; however, there was a two-pin connector with white and black wires that need to be changed out to be compatible with the Softail harness. I ran two pieces of small nylon cord thru the left handlebar down to the center of the bars where the wires exit. The left grip wires were pulled from center of the bars to the left control switch housing. The loop for the right grip was pulled from the left grip to the center of the bars and connected to the wiring harness. I sprayed these wires with a little Windex and they pulled right thru w/o any problem at all.

We tool a 50 mile ride yesterday and the heated grips worked great. My wife said she kept the control setting at 2 and that was warm enough!
