Terry thanks for the great shots of the museum, friends and the races.

Did you get a shot of the elevator and the bikes on the sides of it, that is the most impressive structure in the museum I think.

Rog...I didn't get a shot of that, but I'm sure one of the other members of the group did, if they had a wide angle lens to take it all in at once.  It is amazing how they get that many bikes 5 stories high.  Somebody was told they have a 5 story lift of some kind.

We were also able to visit the bottom floor where they have all the machines to make the parts for the restorations with parts that cannot be salvaged.  State of the art, computerized machine work, and also a new flow jet.  The work areas for the restorers all have stainless counter tops and you could eat off the floor.  A back room has racks and racks of bikes yet to be done.  It is truely amazing that Mr. Barber has done what he's done out there.  He is also a great contributor to some worthwhile organizations here...a major contributor to Alabama Wildlife Rescue where injured birds of prey are rehabilitated, and other animals.

All that from selling milk and ice cream!!

I was fortunate enough about a year ago to have a personal tour with Mr. Barber.  He wandered through the museum with us telling personal stories and relating how he got into the bikes for about 45 minutes.  I could have stayed with him and in the museum for a few days.  Great guy and just like a regular Joe.

He actually commissioned the forklift built that loads them up there.  The even more amazing thing to me is that every bike in that museum is wet and can be ridden at a moments notice.

The bottom floor is a treat and as you know not open to the general public.  All the projects there are great.

Terry,

Thanks again for the hospitality and for showing us around 'your neck of the woods' I'm sure everyone will agree we had a great time!  :2vrolijk_21:
Here are some pics of the trip, it was really nice to see good friends again.

The first pic is of the group headed out to the Barber museum on Friday afternoon.
