d00d,

I did run thru the install BEFORE I loaded the HD dealers folder. It said it uploaded 12 new points of interest. So I am assuming that i need to run it again since instaling the HD file and it will load it for me?

Thanks!

Have you loaded any music directly to your Zumo? Wondering if space is limited because of that. :nixweiss: I remember I believe it was Tbone (see this post - Zumo Tips/Tricks... reply #5)  that tried to load all the U.S. H-D Dealers and had problems w/that also. That and not knowing that much about the capacity of the Zumo I only loaded one (state).

Yes I did load some music. However, I went into the POI loader and did a manual load of the southern states I am most likely to be in this year and it said it downloaded 259 points of interest??? Now another question, where do I find them or do they just show up when you are near?

Mines is out on my bike at the moment, but looking at the manual. If you click on "Where To" and scroll thru that screen you should come to one that says "Extras" (if I remember correctly that's what they are called when you load them). Click on that and a list will appear. I understand you can have the Zumo set so that you can be notified when you get near POI's you've loaded but I haven't done that yet so can't give you the "how to's".

I just found this - "Proximity Alerts". Look on page #56 of your manual and it will tell you how to turn them on. If you decide to use it let us know how it works. :2vrolijk_21:

Don't know about the rest of you, but the "Security Screw" to secure the Zumo in it's cradle is a pain in the butt for me. Getting old sucks when it comes to seeing small dark objects. Alas there is an alternative to this problem, see below...

The replacement screws are being provided by a member of the Zumo forum and if you are interested in ordering check out this thread - ++ Security screw ++ IN STOCK, ready to order !! ++.

Cost for these screws are..

Number - price
1x $ 9.50
2x $16.00
3x $23.00
4x $30.00
5x $37.00

The OEM screw is by no means a theft deterrent/prevention screw nor is this one. This will just make it easier to secure your Zumo in the cradle. Trust me you do want to secure it in the cradle by either the stock screw or this alternative. Not that I've had any mishaps, but I've seen on the Zumo forum what one looks like when it hits the pavement and gets run over before owner can get back to pick it up.

Gary,

Great find!  I just ordered the screw so I don't have to fight the little one Garmin has.  I was also able to check on the Zumo forum and found out that I wasn't the only one that can hear a phone call, but not talk.  It appears that there are a few people trying to solve the issue, and will look back for the solution.  Thanks for the great heads up! :2vrolijk_21:

Glad you saw the post. :2vrolijk_21: I was thinking today I should PM you about this. That is a great resource, now everyone will know I'm not as smart as I appear though when it comes to Zumo information. :D

Hey y'all. This is a tip I wish I had adhered to myself. (pun intended)

To protect the screen from scratching, apply a PDA screen protector. You can find it at Staples. Look for the Palm Pilot type. I wish I had.

Hard,
Just A quick note about the screen.  If you've scratched it, call Garmin and they will probably replace it.  I had a Quest and the screen got scratched, and they replaced it under warranty! :2vrolijk_21:  It's worth a try.  As for the screen protector, I thought about it, but wasn't sure about how well you can see through it on a sunny day.

Gary,

Good to see your involved in the forum over there, I don't know how you do it. I don't believe it will be that long before your a specialist on the Zumo.

btw, here's a link from the zumo forum with a handy installation guide. Quite a bit of information including a link to Jim's (hd-dude) guide Adding An Optional Auxiliary Input Jack To Back Of Harley Radio.
