Well it might hold that many songs but you only get to access the 1st 1000.
I have an 8 GB card.

Steve

Damn. That should be plenty for a whole entire map and ohhhh I'd say about 5000 songs?  :nixweiss:

It should work with ANY size of SDHC, but it's limited to 1000 songs regardless.  I took the 8GB card out of mine and swapped it with the 4GB from my camera - extra space on the camera is useful, nothing you can do with the free space on the Zumo if you already have your 1000 songs...

Oh yeah, I forgot about the 1000 song limit. That's plenty for me. I only have about 750 on mine at the moment.

Having the entire NA Map in, puts the 550 on the edge of memory capacity. There were times that there wasn't enough memory to calculate the routes we installed in MV. Not sure why. They calculated later when under a clear sky, and not under tree cover! :nixweiss: :nixweiss: :nixweiss:

I've done two so far and haven't noticed any difference. Each update loads an entire new image and it would take a lot of new data to max out. I'll have to check to see what size the actual map image is also. I've still got all my TTS voices that came stock w/the Zumo so I've got some deleting I can do if needed.

Be interesting to see what the HD capacity is on the 660.

The internal memory on the 660 is 4 GB and I'm running an 8 GB microSD card on it also.  I don't believe it has the 1000 MP3 limit either (not absolutely sure about that, just read it somewhere). I've only got 750 currently loaded on mine.  The only thing that I've found that I dislike about the 660 is that you have to leave the mount on the bike because it is hardwired to the wire bundle, not plugged in like the 550.  You can run a cigar lighter adapter to the power cord but then you've still got the other three wires in the bundle (ext mic, ext speaker, and USB for traffic receiver) to deal with.  I'm going with hardwiring the mount and leaving the three additional connectors bundled up behind the fairing and only using the provided audio cable to run from the bundle to the HK head unit.  I bought a nice handlebar set up that will have to stay permanently mounted to the bar even when I don't have the Zumo mounted, but I'm willing to put up with that minor inconvenience.

My wife's got a 660 on her Rocker C. The 8gb card is full of mp3's, all of which play.

I don't think the mount is as big as the 550 and the clip on cover is neater but more at risk from loss or theft.

Overall I don't think the 660 is as robust as the 550, some of the features are nice to have like local speed limits, but I'm keeping my 550.

That too is my disappointment Charlie. I've wondered about a way to work around this but have come up with nothing. I'm not a big fan of leaving the mount hardwired but I guess that's the way the 660 will have to reside. I have purchased a Techmount but really not excited about that look with the 660 either. Which mount are you using?

I got my 660 about 6 weeks ago, and I too am dealing with this hardwired mount problem.  Initially, I just used the automotive mount with the suction cup, stuck it to my speedo face, and used the 660 display to read my speed. However, without a cigar lighter on my Deuce, I just used battery power, which is a pitiful 2 to 3 hours max.

I just lifted the tank and ran the hardwire for now, but I told the Garmin guys this was a pretty dumb move. I guess they had a lot of problems with the 550 cradle and this was their fix?  Imho, if they had a waterproof 11 circuit connector approx 3" from the cradle, with a quick clamp bar mount, that would be the best of both worlds. For those who want the perminent mount, they could use the included ball mounts, or RAM has 100's of optional mount components.

However, seeing Garmin probably won't consider this at least until the next generation units, what I plan to do is buy a second motorcycle cradle, remove the cable, and just run one end of a SAE cable for the power. Then I'm going to run my battery tender lead, which is now tucked up by the oil bag, and run that up in front of the tank. For the storage, I'll just connect the charger up there. When I'm riding, I'll connect my Zumo to it, only when I need it.

That's about the best 'solution' I've come up with.  Thoughts?
