2006 Rear Rim/Tire
« on: May 02, 2007, 09:25:53 PM »

This past weekend I was stopped by a motorist who informed me that I should have my rear tire checked due to the appearance of a wobble.  While I did not feel one, I was less than 1/4 mile from the dealer and decided it was worth investigation.

It turns out that he was correct.  Once placed on a stand, you could see the wobble.  The tire appeared to be seated properly and the wear on the thread appeared to be good.

While they could not conduct further investigation that day, I have stored the bike until my date is due.

Has any one else experienced this type of matter?

Keep us posted, Jock...hopefully, it's just a faulty sidewall in the tire and not the rim itself.

Bad Tire...
Does it have to be replaced, or is it something that you can just forget about? Since it sounds like you weren't feeling it was just wondering what they are suggesting. :nixweiss:

The tire has been replaced at NO CHARGE WHAT SO EVER with over 4k miles on it...It appears that there was a separation in the thread.  GOD bless the warranty!

Was hoping that was the case...not a good thing though, as it generally leads to a blowout, so glad you found it prior to that happening at the light speeds the V will run.  Good for them to replace the tire for free, though they (Dunlop) is probably counting their blessings in this particular instance.

You mean your Pre-ride inspection did not include a look at your tires* :)

Glad you caught it in time.

VAZHOG,

Funny you should mention this matter...no one found any issue with the tire until it was placed on the rack and turned a 20mph...then it appeared.

However good call on the CYA...
