Relocating the Tour Pack
« on: June 11, 2007, 05:11:21 PM »

Can someone tell me who the guy is that makes a relocation plate that will work on the 07 SEUC? Has anyone here used it? If so, do you have any pics? Was the amp any problem?

Thanks all!

Thanks, that's the one I was looking for. I'll give him a call tomorrow. I put a Corbin on my bike and it moved me back a little. I feel like I'm crowding my better half now so I want to move the pack back. Keith

Coyote,
Just put one on my 07 SEUC.  No problems.  George is a standup guy.  I called him last Wed AM.  He said "send me a check, I'll get it in the mail today."  He called me back about an hour later, thinking I had placed a second call to him (forgot to erase the first message).  Said he'd just gotten back from the post office - mailing my kit.  Man of his word.
Got it on Friday.  Easy install and is a quality piece of American made gear.

Easy to install, works well, my BSR is most pleased.  Why the MoCo decided to try to eliminate the use of the back third of the passenger seat is beyond my comprehension.

George sent the relocator as I sent a check.  Interesting fellow. Would like to meet him someday.

George is most definitely a stand-up guy.  Friend of mine just ordered and like you guys said, George just asked him to send check but he shipped part immediately.  When I got mine last winter George didn't even ask for my check - said I'll put an invoice in with part and just send me a check.  Told my friend that he's never had a problem with Harly folks paying.  But he has with other brands.  Just a testimonial to what great people Harley folks are.

Is this only for the 06 and 087 bikes? Or does he do one for the older tour pak models?

I guess I am asking if this relocator will work on the regular hard tour pak or only the newer leather ones?

Typo - obviously, but no, since my bike is an 05, I don't have a darn thing against an odd year bike.

Just received my relocate kit from George and installed it. One fine piece of work. Hard to fine someone today to ship out with out paying for product first. He also makes floorboard extenders. Great guy :2vrolijk_21: Lighting fast shipping.

Just got back from a 7000 mile trip and installed mine. Works great and looks good. Only thing I don't like (nothing to do with the bracket) is now my ugly amplifier top shows between the passenger seat and the back rest. I have some ideas but was wondering what, if anything, did the rest of you do?

Before, the backrest was far enough forward to block the space. Now with the pack moved back, you can see through to the amplifier. - Keith

Hi coyotedata,
I have not done anything to cover that space between the Tour Pak and the end of the seat myself since it doesn't bother me much yet. I have thought about a solution though. I would consider a removable seat section to fill that area in. I would try installing it with Velcro to the top of the amp and have it made to snuggly fit into that space ,by a seat company like Corbin so the leather would match.
I would make it removable so you could still remove the main seat as well. I think if you had a custom long seat made it would be difficult to remove.

Thats a very good question? I just installed mines last week and on the hardware kit it read for 06-07 FL. I'm sure Harley uses same mounting framework for leather/hard tour-packs.

I paid $112 delivered last Sept.  I use it on the 05 SEEG but don't need it on the 06.  It is easy to install.  Good luck...I have his number at home (I think) if you need it.  :cherry:

Nicest thing I found to cover it is the wife's butt...sorry, just couldn't resist.  7,000 miles; wow, would love to hear about that ride.  Just finished a 12 day trip to the Euro HOG rally last month, put just over 3,600 miles on the bike (1,400 down, 1,400 back & about 800 in rides around Malaga and the Spanish coast), great trip and can't wait for the next long run.  Look forward to the day I can do more riding and less work..

Don't know why the MoCo doesn't locate all the amps in the fairing; would make for much cleaner installations, better protection for the components, and would allow for quick release installations of several of the rear components with water-proof couplings.

AJ,
It just bolts to the chrome rack from the bottom, in the original holes, the 3" round goes in the back between the pack and the bracket, I installed mine and it does not stick out like that.but,I moved the pack all the way back.what parts did you have left over?

There was an aluminum 1/2 round plate that looked like the 4 that were used. I only pushed it back 1 1/4". There were also some washers that I think I forgot to install. Oh well.

AZ,
I just went and measured, between the seam on the bottom, back of the tp and the bracket, I have 2 1/4" that is the bracket is 2 1/4" under the tp, again that is with the tp all the way back so....... if I am not mistaken,Georges bracket moves it back 1 1/4 or 2 1/4, something must be wrong. your bracket setting on the 1 1/4 setting should be at least 1" under the tp.

Chit! I've got those 1/2 round plates in-between the TP and the extention plate, not between the bolt and chrome thing.

ok, look between the set and the tp, you can see both the chrome rack and georges rack, where they fit together do you have round on round, or round on square?

No... That's the way I have it. "polished side" is up. The tube where the inside TP screws go is up and correct.

I'll take more pix when I'm on the road tomorrow.

When we installed George's kit I had my BSR pick out a windshield bag for detachable windshields, ST's, RK's etc.  We found that it fits the space really well and provides instant access for her contact lens stuff, phone.  When we stop, she just uses it as a small purse.

I installed mine the other day with no problems.  I was very impressed with the quality of the parts.  George is a stand-up guy.  Nice to do business with people like that.  ;D

That is a good idea & handy - a windshied bag for the "new" space.  Will look into that - thanks for posting the tip.

Check reply #1 in this thread.  George may know of somewhere or be able to ship to you.  He's a good man to work with.

See how the plate kindda sticks out the back of the TP?

I am going to purchase the tour pack relocation kit as well and like your photos.  I am also going to do something with an LED light on the rear of the tour pack and cannot decide what to do.  I see you have a good looking one on  yours.  Can you get me some details on what you did and the type of light you put on?  Thanks, Rob
