It just came in today; I have asked them to install a chrome inner primary and chrome front and rear calipers for me. I will do the rest of the work myself. The dealer is about 75 miles from my home, so I am going to have it delivered.

Mrs.WeCVO, I wish I could control the weather because then I could own a fleet of bikes.  [smiley=laugh.gif]

So 103tHunDer, I guess you would like to see a picture?

Mrs.WeCVO, I know that you are going to think this is crazy, but I am holding off on the 6 speed for now. I have bought way too many chrome items to put a six speed in right now. I am so looking forward to installing the extras I have had for several months now. Just need to get the 500+ miles on so I can install the PC and V&H pipes.

Well, whatever gave you that idea? [smiley=nixweiss.gif]  Don't forget to change your "Personal Text" in your profile to reflect your revised ownership status. [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif]

Also, be sure to take and post photos of the pristine undersides of your footboards.  You may want something to refer to come May 1. [smiley=lolk.gif]

I had not considered taking photos of the undersides of my footboards because I plan to never scrape them on the pavement. If you believe that, I will next try to start selling you 100% guarantied weather insurance. You have to watch us meteorologist, we have a lot of practice making up things.

Thanks to all for the Congrats!

I went to my dealer today to pick up a couple small pieces I had sent out to be chromed and while I was there I noticed they had a new red sefb on the floor. I looked over the bike in detail and forgot how it looked in stock form without all the upgrades I have. It really looked strange seeing all the gray stuff in absence of chrome, I guess I forgot how it initially looked with working on so much getting it to where it is now.

Rainman I know you have as much planned for your new bike as I have done to mine and all I can say is: you

I have to ask what did you send out to have chromed?

Just some small pieces: a frame clamp bracket for the backside of the Kuryakyn mustache bar, and the nut that holds the chrome rear master cylinder on. The thing I have found is how great the red frame looks with all the chrome bringing the color out. The bad thing is that it also brings out the detail in that all the black pieces that would look perfectly fine on a black frame sticks out on like a sore thumb on the red sefb. I told my dealer jokingly once my goal was if its not red, its getting chromed. He said what are you going to do about the tires.

Did you go to the Easyrider bike show yesterday in Louisville Rainman? We have a couple big bike shows in my area in the next couple weeks; I

REO, I wanted to go to the bike show but just got back home from working in DC for two weeks. We are currently working on two new websites; one for climate text products and another for local climate forecast for 4000 locations.

Rainman, I know the reason there are no pictures yet is that :
A.) I was riding
B.) I was admiring
C.) I had an incident with them thar tools
D.) I had a warm and fuzzy moment with the bike and just couldn't believe my good fortune

etc, etc, etc

I vote for:

D.) I had a warm and fuzzy moment with the bike and just couldn't believe my good fortune   [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif]

Actually the bike is still at the dealer and I have not seen it yet. I having chrome inner primary and front/rear calipers installed. They had to order the calipers which should come in later this week. The other 6k of goodies (chrome and other items) I will install myself.

That is a good thing, rainman.
Be patient with the chrome additions and work carefully.  Some things just take more time than you anticipated.  Your rewards when you ride it will pay you back a hundredfold.

I hope the fix is not to painful Rainman. I had problems removing the lifter base allen headed bolts when I installed the covers on my bike. It looks like when HD disassembles the stock 88tc engine to install all the Screamin Eagle upgrades they must install more locktight on the allen bolts and it makes them extreamly hard to get out. I used the allen wrench that came with the kit and it broke on the second bolt when removing them. I had to get some tools from work to finish the removal and let me tell you, it was then a very hard and delicate procedure getting those bolts out without stripping or breaking them.

I really try not to cuss but when I first broke the bolt, I thought O-chit what am I going to do now.  [smiley=oops.gif]  Fortunately, I believe there is enough of the bolt sticking out to just clamp onto it once I can raise the lifter cover up. I will find out this weekend.

I ended up having to make a temporary spacer at the base to mount the Lindy highway bars. The floor boards were rubbing against the highway bars. My plan is to make new ones sometime and have them chromed.

Just looking at your pictures there and saw that one that showed the footboards.  Reminded me that I really wished the SEEGs had the footboard the Fatboys do.  I really like the looks of it a lot better.  We can't even swap the insert though.  Would have to change the whole board.  Nice looking bike.  Were I completely nuts (as opposed to just partially) I'd have a red SE Fatboy parked next to the red SEEG.  That would be a wonderful sibling rivalry to sort out.

I guess I'm not getting what you used these spacers for, can you post a pic of the location you needed to use these?

Adding this spacer ended up giving me more space between the highway bar and the floor board than I desired, but it is better than the two pieces of metal grinding on each other.

I like those bars, did you look at the Kuryakan?  They look similar just looking at the sales photos.  I wonder if they would have the same problem.

Got to admit I might wonder a bit about losing some structural support because of the extenders you've had to use to mount it though....

Twoline, I also have this concern. If you look close at the photos, you will see that I have not yet tightened the bolts down. I just put it together so I could take the photo for this discussion.

I may end up putting the homemade spacer between the bike frame mount point and the highway bar. Installing it this way would put them on opposite sides of the spacer which would provide some additional structural support, but it will never be as good as a standard installation.

your parts look nice Rainman,
Have you concidered cutting and extending the length of the stock mounting plate on the bars? keep the smooth appearance, less nutznbultz. plus the strength of the bars would be most likely unaffected.      juz a thought  [smiley=laugh.gif]

Take a piece of stainless billet, cutit to size, drill it and slot it and polish it and forever keep your peace. It'll lok good and won't rust. Better solution than lengthening a potential lever and incorporating a weak point plus a huge rechroming bill.

welp , if it was me i would make a template of the extended  pattern, make it like the adapters you already have made, use a  angle grinder and a vise  and shape it in, when
ya got it  then take it to a local welding house or a friend that has a Tig or Mig welder,
i'm thinkin those bars are made from chrome molly  tubing or cold roll steel. also if ya  extend it, the area ya weld isn't rewelded cause it was never connected  in the place of the weld before.  chamfer the edges of the  butt weld  and have em fill it in , grind it smooth and rechrome... two lane is right about the extended length, but i think it will have a factory finish appearance and nearly the same strength, you could even prime the extended  base braket and paint it  and save the chrome cost   [smiley=laugh.gif]

Under new products on Harleys web page are crash bars.  Not sure if they will fit the SEFB but the number is 49140-05.
