I ended up having to make a temporary spacer at the base to mount the Lindy highway bars. The floor boards were rubbing against the highway bars. My plan is to make new ones sometime and have them chromed.

Just looking at your pictures there and saw that one that showed the footboards.  Reminded me that I really wished the SEEGs had the footboard the Fatboys do.  I really like the looks of it a lot better.  We can't even swap the insert though.  Would have to change the whole board.  Nice looking bike.  Were I completely nuts (as opposed to just partially) I'd have a red SE Fatboy parked next to the red SEEG.  That would be a wonderful sibling rivalry to sort out.

I guess I'm not getting what you used these spacers for, can you post a pic of the location you needed to use these?

Adding this spacer ended up giving me more space between the highway bar and the floor board than I desired, but it is better than the two pieces of metal grinding on each other.

I like those bars, did you look at the Kuryakan?  They look similar just looking at the sales photos.  I wonder if they would have the same problem.

Got to admit I might wonder a bit about losing some structural support because of the extenders you've had to use to mount it though....

Twoline, I also have this concern. If you look close at the photos, you will see that I have not yet tightened the bolts down. I just put it together so I could take the photo for this discussion.

I may end up putting the homemade spacer between the bike frame mount point and the highway bar. Installing it this way would put them on opposite sides of the spacer which would provide some additional structural support, but it will never be as good as a standard installation.

your parts look nice Rainman,
Have you concidered cutting and extending the length of the stock mounting plate on the bars? keep the smooth appearance, less nutznbultz. plus the strength of the bars would be most likely unaffected.      juz a thought  [smiley=laugh.gif]

Take a piece of stainless billet, cutit to size, drill it and slot it and polish it and forever keep your peace. It'll lok good and won't rust. Better solution than lengthening a potential lever and incorporating a weak point plus a huge rechroming bill.
