Stainless Steel Braided Fuel Crossover Line
« on: August 22, 2007, 11:17:58 PM »

Has anyone installed the Stainless Steel Braided Fuel Crossover Line (63698-02)?  I have not seen pictures of it installed on a real bike...  I guess I better ride the crud out of the bike to drain the tank before disconnecting the factory rubber hose?

Any pics would be helpful.  Thanks!

Before you change to the ones the MoCo offers you may want to look for the quick connect/disconnect type that will allow you to remove lines/tank w/o draining the tank next time. The addition of this type will allow you two kill to bird w/one stone.... Allow easy removal of tank in the future and give you the looks of the SS Braided line.

I would stay away from O-ring type crossovers. If the O-ring dries up, which it does eventually, the line will pop off, and it won't be pretty while you're riding. If you can't find the type d00d suggests (clamp type, not O-ring type), just get braided stainless hose and use normal clamps. ;)

I've had one (HD o-ring type) on my Fat Boy for ten years with not even a weap of fuel leaking.  I'll be putting one on the SERK too when I get around to it - looks tons better than the black rubber with writing on it.

I have had the HD kit on since 2003 with no problems. I have had it off three times.

I put one of the H-D ones on mine a couple of weeks ago.  Holding o.k. for now, but I sure don't like that a rubber o-ring is the only thing keeping a leak from occurring and blowing gas back on me.  I think I'm gonna look for a better alternative.

I have seen the HD crossover on a Softail and Dyna models and discovered that the hose is *not* long enough to cover the unpainted portions of the tank fittings.  I'm just wondering if this is true for the Touring models as well.

A lot of people report that the hose is not as long as the factory rubber hose leaving the unpainted portion of the tank fitting exposed to rust.  I guess you could use some touchup paint, but why emphasize the focus on the front of the tank with the crossover only to look at it and discover touch-up paint on the tank fittings?

True on the 03 SERK. Have not had any issues with the hose leaking, etc. I used some MOCO touch up paint to cover the exposed bare spots when installing the cross-over hose. Have to really look to see where it was done. Werks fur meh!  :2vrolijk_21:

I had the braided fuel crossover line fitted before I took delivery of the bike. No problems as yet.

Looks good too.
