Nice 182. Did most of my training in a 172 but couldn't land the damn thing. Switched to a cherokee and greased it on. I finally did figure it out.
Did you have it restored or did you find it like that?
I miss flying !!

I'm a low winger at heart, but was tired of climbing up a wing, through one door, sliding down in and over to the pilots seat, so I thought I would try a cessna. I love it, two doors easy to get into and out of, and great visability. I bought the plane last week the way you see it. It's a buyer's market right now, I was watching the market for over 6 months before I pulled the trigger. I have a good clean low time airframe and a great start on updating the panel. thanks.

As I'm a novice flyer with very little experience 40 years ago, it appears to me like he stalls it perfectly and purposely drops the left wing flap to drop her dead perfect on the grass beside the runway. I was just wondering if anyone could be that good or if it was just damn great luck.
I guess we need someone that fancies himself a good pilot to give it a try and show us. Volunteers? ;D

MJ, I've got about 100 hours in a Citabria doing aerobatics.  That's only enough hours doing that kind of thing to begin to let you know what you don't know.  Certainly not enough to make you good.  But enough to let you know that, yeah, if the video is real that guy is both very good and very lucky.

That wouldn't have worked with some airframes or wing configurations.  Some would have spun in while others would have just fallen like a toppling stone.  That low wing and enough engine to kind of hang the plane on the prop made it as possible as it was in the position he was in.

Unless he just happened to see it when it first happened the guy probably didn't immediately know the wing was gone.  Just knew the airplane was handling different and badly.  He corrected to a position that felt stable.  That's the "good" part.  Even better than the initial instinctive response was a moment later after he'd time to process.  Then he still flew the plane and figured out a way to get it down.

Nope....no volunteer here.  Coming up on 20k hours and have had, gear failures, engine failures, onboard fires, landed on washed out dirt strips and practiced cartwheels and water landed after bad Mexican fuel, but ain't about to give up a wing to see if I can land it.  Seriously, I think this pilot with his obvious air racing skills was much more skill than luck.  He practiced the old tried and true "regardless of what happens, never quit flying the aircraft".  After watching the clip a couple of times, it was his being exceptionally quick response and controlling the plane until he was in a survivable condition.  Great pilot.

I tried to get the 04' F250 Super Duty Orange and Black that matches my Low Rider but it didn't work out. Thats why I bought the 06'. The stripe IS orange. It doesn't look like it though because of the blue pin stripe.

When I got mine this was the first thing  (decal) that I took it off. A member from this site made this for me...........
