Depends on where you are riding when it looses signal.  The antenna needs to be mounted on a flat surface, parallel to the ground.  If you are riding in an area with high banks, a canyon, tall trees, a forest area, there can easily be a loss of reception.  Cornerring in wooded and high banked areas can cause it to drop out.

The antenna needs a clear view of the sky at all times to receive a good signal.  It's not perfect but is way better than Am or FM.

Have XM thru my Garmin GPS and it seems to work well. Get better reception on bike than in car, but not as reliable as Sirius. Will depend on terrain and tree cover or buildings!
