This post made me do some google searching. Seems there are several states that don't allow open carry for any that are interested and aren't aware here is a good website for resources - Open Carry.

Not that I'd ever carry the thing on the bikes, but...........
I have a Browning Auto-5 Light in 16 guage.......AKA:  Sweet 16.  Belgian.  Been in our family since 1962-3.  That's Dad's best recollection of when Mom got it for him.  Tried using the methodology listed on Browning's website to get an accurate date of manufacture, but the serial number on the underside of the receiver doesn't match the decryption code on Browning's website.

Was wondering/hoping someone here could help me figure out exactly how old this weapon is.  Serial Number is 3S16279.  The buttstock end bears the old FN label.  Gold trigger and lots of ornate stuff you'd expect on a Belgian Browning Sweet 16.  Pristine.  I remember oogling this thing since I was old enough to walk.......and based on that, the date on the instruction manual, and Dad's fading memory, I think it is a 1963 model, but I can't find anything definitive based on the serial number.

Thanks in advance to whoever can help me figure out how old this piece of my family history is.

I have a customized Colt .45 ACP I used to shoot competition with, but I leave it in my dresser when I'm at home.  I just keep a S&W model 60 in my Denali, but I never carry a piece on me even though I have a CCW permit.
I have been looking at the Ruger .380 LCP for a pocket gun I might actually carry.  -Sounds like now's the time to get one.

What was the recall all about?
and
How big a smack is it in the palm to shoot?
re:  I run a Kimber Ultra carry with BIG handloads, and I willingly pop 40-50 rounds through my DE .50cal, but,  snakebit is something entirely different to convince the wife to carry....

RUGER® LCP™ PRODUCT SAFETY WARNING AND RECALL NOTICE

Ruger has recently received a small number of reports from the field indicating that LCP pistols can discharge when dropped onto a hard surface with a round in the chamber. We are firmly committed to safety and would like to retrofit all older LCP Pistols. The retrofit involves installation of an upgraded hammer mechanism at no charge to the customer.

All LCP pistols bearing prefix “370” (that is, serial number 370-xxxxx) may be affected. Newly manufactured and retrofitted “370” prefix LCP pistols with the new hammer mechanism installed have been marked with a diamond in the flat portion of the slot just behind and below the hammer. Going forward, new pistols will be marked with the serial number prefix “371” (serial number 371-xxxxx). Pistols with the “371” prefix are not affected.

We will install the new hammer mechanism, plus some other functional upgrades that we added since the LCP’s introduction, and return your LCP to you, all FREE of charge. When we do, we also will send you a FREE magazine with the new finger grip extension as a “thank you” for your patience and cooperation. We will make every effort to return your pistol within one week of receipt.
