That seems to be pretty normal for Kimbers.  Kimber says 500 rounds are needed to break the gun in.

With my Ultra CDP, I had 3 failure to loads in the first 300 rounds.  In the second 300 rounds I have had no issues.

You cannot limp wrist a kimber either...but 500 or more rounds is a good idea before being put into service..I have around 5k through mine now and still need the take down tool to clean it..any ftf is usually op error from fatigue.
I have found anyway...

My new carry, the lcp, only has 200 through it, a nasty stinger but nice and samll.

I am checking out an indoor range for the first time last weekend...plan to go soon as the outdoor range is too far...

wife and i put 300 rds down range today between us 297/300 in the silhouette at varying distances from 5-10 yards.

not long range but it is a sub-compact Length barrel not intended for 30 yard trick shots
