Have you ever taken the lowers off before? Is this a rub (something that can be taken out /wGlare) or a dent? :nervous:

It's an extremely slight rub on both the fender and the lower.  I'm pretty sure the marks will come out with Glare, but haven't tried yet.  Both lowers will get clayed and detailed before they go back on (bugs get into places you never knew existed when they're installed :nixweiss:), so we'll find out then.  This the first time they've ever been off for anything.

I was afraid you were going to say that. Now I'm going to have to go check mine out. :nervous:

Brian I don't know whether to thank you or fuss at you. I just checked mine w/a flashlight and can see a little scuff on right side of fender and lower. :( I have had the right side off once to put some piece of chrome on (can't remember which it was) so not sure if this would have happened or not (probably would have). I'll be reading that thread to find out the remedy.

well, you guys sure sent me to the garage to check out the huckleberry's fender/lowers for scrapes.  So far ...  so good.  And I've had the lowers off a few.  Guess I just put 'em on w/ enough clearance (w/o thinking about it or checking for it).  Another thing, I try not to use the front brake while a full lock turn   ... ???? Maybe that is the culprit???  Like some had said, there is adjustment in the fender and lowers.  thanks for the tip guys.  :2vrolijk_21: spyder

Just read the thread I referred to earlier and it mentioned that changing to SE Fork Oil along w/making sure the lower is as far out as it can go should help. I just changed to SE Fork Oil during my 20K service so I'll be making sure the lowers are all the way over. Luckily the spot is not very noticeable and should be able to rub out I had to use a flashlight on it to see it.

Can't say that I have or haven't. :nixweiss: If there was a change it was subtle or I haven't pushed the bike hard enough to notice.

That's kinda what I would suspect.  Not really seat of the pants noticeable.  Might  make a diff in a long rebound type of bump like bouncing against a curb or something.  :o har!  :drink: spyder

Also have a spot on the right lower where it's been rubbing.  When I re-install it, I am going to make sure it's as outboard as it can be and hopefully keep it from rubbing further.

So much for thinking it was limited to the right lower . . . when I went to clean the left one up before re-installing today, it was scuffed, as well.  I was able to move each of them outboard, probably 1/8" on the bottom.  The right one I got another only another 1/8" or so outward on top, but the left one is a good 3/8" farther outboard on top now.  All the scuffs polished out with Glare Spider, so no big deal, but I don't know if the movement I got out of the right lower will be enough to keep it from happening again - it was pretty far outboard to start with.

The leading edge of the lowers now have a very slight "V" shape when looking at them head-on, so they are not quite square in the engine guard, but you have to be looking at it to know it.  If that keeps the rubbing from happening again, I can live with that.

You know you're probably going to end up costing you and I both some money. I'm wondering if the Traxxion front end would get rid of this problem. :nixweiss:

That's just what I was thinking. If it's caused by front end dive, I have to believe it would help.

It probably would (less dive).  I'm waffling on whether to do it or not though. :nixweiss:

:indian_chief:
Do the Traxxion eliminate most of the bottoming out? Due to our bikes being lowered an inch and not the best front end to start w/then they may help. One other question when they do the Traxxion front end do they have to drain the fluid in the front end, and what do they replace it with? I just had mine done about 1k miles ago and upgraded to the SE fork oil.

You'll be able to get off cheaper then me as I'd probably do both ends (front & rear) when I had it done. :nervous:
