Reminder...9 days from today, all cell phone numbers are being released to telemarketing companies and you will start to receive sales calls.

...YOU WILL BE CHARGED FOR THESE CALLS

To prevent this, call the following from all your phones, cell and otherwise:  888 382-1222

Its the National DO NOT CALL LIST

It's a hoax......

http://www.snopes.com/politics/business/cell411.asp

If you read 'snopes' you will see that this is NOT a hoax. If your cell #, or any other number for that matter that is listed in a directory, it could be released to telemarketers. The call is toll free and costs nothing to be placed on the "do not call" list, unless you have nothing better to do that get these calls.

Thanks Hard10, I stand corrected again. It would be prudent to register all your phones cell or otherwise so these folks can be prosecuted when they cross the line. They always find a way don't they.  :pimp:

It takes a LOT of work on your end to get them prosecuted, and usually they just hang up before they give you the information you need.

You can also register online at https://www.donotcall.gov/.  It is a good idea to register your cell numbers as well.  The calls do eventually stop, and as soon as you mention you're on the DNC list, they hang up.

Thanks GD, I checked all my numbers again last night after your post. It's just another service that the wonderful site provides. Thanks Grandpadoc.

...for a government site it sure works well. Hey, have you tried Googles reverse phone number system?  In search type in anyones phone number and you will get the name and map to the house. Scary  :pumpkin:

You can have your number removed from that also. If you put in your number and it shows up right below it is a link to have it removed. Not sure if there is a time limit on this so you'll have to check back periodically.

Its just the Google search engine. Type in your area code and phone number. When the number and name comes up click it and a form will come up to fill out to get your name off the list. Doc
