Since he was blabbing about how much money he's got earlier, he probably doesn't get his hands dirty, anyway, so I'm not sure why he was chiming in with a negative comment about a great idea.

what is the big deal if a little oil spills on your bike?

Actually that one thing (oil spill during filter change) is the most significant part of the entire thread.  Whether someone changes their own oil or pays someone else to have it done is largely irrelvant.  Depends on anyone's relative skills, familiarity, patience, willingess etc etc etc.

Whomever does it, however, the oil spill is consequential.  It's the oil spill from the filter that leaks down on the front motor mount and helps it along toward a failure that will occur earlier then if it never got oil saturated.  And that is worth the minimal time and small effort to butcher a soda bottle.

its pretty easy to be a big man when we are thousands of miles away.

Um... yeah. You WERE blabbing.  Funny how THAT post seems to be missing...
And I'm not insecure... Maybe here in Cheeecaaaaga... they just teaches us propa gramma and shpelling!!!  Obviously not the case in Neeeuuu Yoke.

Out of respect for the forum... I will not even address your BIG MAN remark little man.   Because you can guess where that remark's going to take you.

The point of all this.... don't be a know it all.  It's not attractive.... and I was serious about that pic...

And maybe a geography lesson... Chicago to NYC... 750 miles.

Hey Otis

Where you been Bud?
Are you missing Tater Hubbard and Shrader?
Look forward to seeing you at the CVO rally.
We need to meet up (well down for you) at Tilleys someday.
When's Tater coming back? Remember at 135 it's only a 4 hour trip from Daytona to home for him?

Can't you just feel the love here?
I do! [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif]

hd2003

I have been staying in the background keeping my mouth shut so I stay out of trouble.   Tater Hubbard will be coming home Sunday.  I just saw Shrader at www.hogsbreath.com in Key West.  It has been kind of quiet this week with both of them being gone.  Looking forward to meeting everyone at the CVO Rally.

i thought this forum was for members to share their oppinions and views on topics that are discussed.
as for as the soda bottle, i could have my filter removed an installed before you cut the bottle open.
and talking about not getting dirty, what is the big deal if a little oil spills on your bike?
what do you do with this clever little invention after you are done? clean it and put it away until next time?
it may work great for other members, and cudos to the man who thought of it.
it's just not for me.

you guy's must have too much time on your hands if you have nothing better to do then to bash me. i have not said anything negative to or about any member of this forum.
that being said.

whoa,, lol  hey man , i juz copied and pasted a picture from another site.It is actually someone elses idear. i wanna try it tho..the time frame is irrelevant to me .. i plan on changin all the fluids on my bike, all the time . when it comes due...if it takes time then im ok  with it ....oil containment was the idea ...make sure you loosen the filter some first  before ya load the hourglass on the filter then remove it by hand .. i'll try and keep this one on topic, i could have used something like that, the last time i worked on my softail, i had to do a filter swap with a full bag of oil
( it seemed like a good idea at the time [smiley=dunce.gif] ), and believe you me it got messy on the front of the motor and frame. I for one will definatley be trying this trick.
