You hit the nail on the head... I had the same unit in Northern NY (think Vermont). Never failed & if that snow blower couldn't do the job you'd need a truck with a plow on it. Funny (not ha ha funny) that this should be reprised now... expecting snow tomorrow with a HIGH of 32F. I have the Avalanche this year so I'm thumping my chest & yelling "bring it on!!!"

BTW, I have a Troy Bilt 10HP with a stand behind cab, drift cutters, heated grips, and a cup holder.  It's an absolute tank and has NEVER failed to start on the first pull.

This is the bad boy of snow blowers, we tried the honda and then tried this one, hands down this one smoked the honda!!
Check out the link and see all the models and features, we have the second largest one, I don't remember the model number off hand!!

It has the ice teeth, steering controls on the handles, control direction of the snow all by hand controls not by  cranking, and electric start!!

Everyone thinks that the track snow blowers are good, but they are not so good in slippery conditions, the wheels do better, plus they maneuver much better and faster!!

We don't get great big snow storms in Illinois, but last year we had a pretty good snow fall, about 12+ inches and it was like going through melted butter!! Even in heavy wet snows, it still throws it no problem!!

I like it, it does well!! :2vrolijk_21:

The one pictured is the big one, thats awesome!! :2vrolijk_21:

Just the topic of snow is unpleasant.  Yesterday rode 80 miles to meet Notah and Scooter and Hobo for lunch.  Then took a long way home for a couple hundred more.  75 degress, light sweatshirt all day.  Great day to be out all day and in to the evening.  Saw snow flurries tonight on the way home from dinner.  Humbug.

The Honda online site has them for a little discount at most retailers, $100.00.  I haven't talked price with a dealer at this point.

I imagine after the holiday weekend I'll narrow it down and check pricing.

Cerdo, have you negotiated a price?

Well I ordered the Honda.

$2600.00 and 0% for 12 mo. no pymts.

The dealer let slip it costs him 1% if I do the 0% so when I go to pick it up I'm going to see if I can get the extra $250.00 off.  Why pay the bank?

Anyway, I should have it for this weekend. :bananarock: :bananarock: :coolblue:

Is that a typo with an extra 0 or do you actually have to string an extension cord out in the yard to start this thing everytime it stalls or bogs?

Must be but that's just pasted off the Honda Power Equipment site.

Go Big or Go Home I guess :huepfenlol2:

It's a 120v.  it's not an error.  Most large snow blowers have electric starters that you plug an extension cord into.  it's easier to pull start them than mess with a cold stiff extension cord with gloves on.  I have a 10HP that starts just fine.  I've never used the started.  if I were more feable things might be different.

Interesting.  Had actually expected that to be a typo.  If it starts easily enough to pull one would think they could hang some 12v high torque mini starter on it to make the unit fully self contained.

That might be a temperature issue in extreme climates, only thing I could think of to have the 120V set up.

The problem is the battery.  It may sit for a month at a time in the very cold.  They're almost always in a garage near a power source anyhow.  Most of us in the snowy areas have learned to get up early when a good deal of snow is in the forecast to have enough time to blow the snow to get to work and get the kids off to school on time.  We actually had a day here a couple years ago when we received 2 feet of snow during the night and school wasn't closed.  It stopped early enough (5AM) for the town to get the roads cleared in time for the school buses.  The driveways were another matter entirely!
