This is almost an omen.  Renea and I had a near miss with a bat on the way home from 29 Dreams.  It got dark just as we crossed the Tennessee River and at the crest of the bridge, my face almost had a collision with a bat.  Freaky Scarey!!!

Who?  Me?      Yeah, I know.  Sometimes the best made plans don't always work the way you want.  This time of year is not conducive to night time riding............at all, but when you're already in it, charge on!  I kept that thought on the forefront of my mind as we meandered north on US231..........and gave thanks and praise to God for keeping us safe.  Wasn't planned, but it happened.

I had a 'bat' experience years ago.  The sucker it me right in the chest and at the time I had no idea what it was.  When I got to where I was going, I went to get off the bike and it was laying dead between my legs!  I almost dropped the bike trying to get off.

True story: Many moons ago I was riding with a friend riding 2 up and a cock pheasant flew in fround of him, the rider ducked down but the passenger....... well he took the bird right on the top of the helmet, whiched launched it straight up in there air right to where I could of caught the bird. I had to stop and get off the ike I was laughing so hard. took it home and cleaned it for dinner, sure was good.

Last time I hit something........it was a truck and it didn't move.  I ended  up spending the next two months in the hospital and subsequently, ten surgeries.  I'm now bionic on the left side, head to leg.   Thinkin I'd rather hit a bat.

Almost hit a snappin' turtle one night with about 8 other bikes following me.Just ticked it with the foot board.Was the size of a big dish pan & the same color as the road.Could have been a real pile up.Had a kamikaze woodchuck run into my front wheel this past summer & scared the poop out of me.Friend of mine hit & killed a ratcoon on a Humane Society run a couple years ago.Never will let him forget that.If I had a choice I'll take a bat every time.Lot better than the Honda car I hit a few years ago.

I had a rabbit run into the side of my front wheel once. He came out of the weeds along side the road ahead of me ran a few feet going the same direction as me, then made a left turn right into the wheel, hit my foot.  Ran over a snake once.

Not admitting to the rumors about how slow I ride but I did have a snake go between my tires a few years ago. I was riding and he made it between them without getting hit by either one. Either he was really quick or the rumors are true.

I had a male cardinal (bright red, if you don't know) fly from a guard-rail once.  The bird hit around the left fork/turn signal area.  I was running about 80 mph.  It was a RED explosion...red feathers flying every direction.  Took me a minute to figure out what I had hit.

In a long hard turn at night in the summer of 1984 I was on my Honda 750 with a frame mounted fairing.  Light was shining toward opposite ditch.  My toes on the low side were pointed down toward the road and very near touching the road when something hit the top of my foot at 60 mph.  It felt like it ripped my foot clean off but it wasn't a hard something like a rock.  I never saw it but my guess is a raccoon or an opossum.  It sprained my ankle.  I didn't put the bike down.

A turkey ran into the lower fairing on my bike on it's maiden voyage home from the dealership.  I was following behind the bike and what I saw was a whole lotta shaking going on low down on the bike and then all of a sudden, a completely plucked turkey came shooting out from the bike.  Looked like one of those rubber chickens of gag and slapstick comedy prop.

I hit a turkey - actually, it flew into the path of the bike - a few years ago.  Big bruise on my shoulder & an explosion of feathers.  Found... lets just say "turkey" on the bike in various places for a couple of weeks or so. 

Riding buddies suggested eating it since it was already tenderized, but I left it off the side of the road. 

Your bike plucked the bird, mine did not.  Possibly you have HD part#5482-34b Lower Fairing Turkey Plucker?

Those first two are better work.  Perhaps a couple of tell tales.  That last one though... Not as well done.  Don't trust it at all.  Too lazy to actually break them down and look.  With the last one don't think it's really necessary though.

One "tell" on that pic of the eagle is for some reason () its head & beak are unscathed.  Last time I saw an eagle flying, their head & beak are forward, so would logically be the primary point of impact.

We are on a waterfowl flyway here - lots of geese - mostly Canadian.  Lakeland, Florida is known for its swans in its downtown lake - not close to where I live - very graceful but messy.

A good friend of mine hit a cow that got lose and ran into a ditch in TN.  Hurt him pretty bad and of course no damage to the cow.
