Fatcat 2-1 install question
« on: March 02, 2008, 01:23:55 PM »

Looking over the fatcat install the directions say to use a heavy duty grease between exhaust gasket & pipe to ensure a perfect seal. Does anyone do this & if so what kind of grease should i use. Is it necesary as well. Iam going to replace the exhaust gaskets with new ones...

I did not use grease on the head joint.  I installed my Fat Cats today.  The only leak I had upon firing up the bike was with the rear pipe - at the tapped hole for the O2 sensor.  Since I am using the PCIII, I have installed plugs in the O2 sensor holes.  That is where the leak was - I removed the plug, added some high temp silicone, then reinstalled the plug, which sealed the leak.  The pipes sealed to the heads with no problem.   :2vrolijk_21:

For those of you who have installed the Fat cats on a SEUC3. Did you have an issue with the heat shield hitting the brake pedal. Mine was hitting & wasnt going to let it go by it... I had to notch the shield to make work...

I installed my Fat Cats yesterday and did not have this issue...  I had about 3/8" clearance to the brake pedal.... ;)

I used high temp grease. Probably only because I had some kicking around in the garage.
