They already do, but they're all guys in the pits with helmets and flame retardant suits.  I'm not into that sort of thing (not that there's anything wrong with that)

There's a problem with the potential visual though.  Gaggles of cheerleaders lining the grass between pit row and the track.  Someone blows a tire coming off a turn, hits the fence then bounces down through row after row of cheerleader.  Screen cuts to mud splattered cheerleaders bouncing around like bowling pins.  Dismembered pom poms flying higher and higher as they go one direction and cheerleaders fly another before.  Finally a stock car comes to rest in front of the grandstands with three remaining cheerleaders, uniforms torn asunder, laying injured across the hood in tangled..... ummm... positions that make Little Johnny with the 88 sweatshirt look up at Big John with the 88 sweatshirt and say "Daddy, are those girls supposed to be kissing like that?"
