New CVO Lift
« on: February 22, 2008, 03:02:25 PM »

After month wait my new lift for the shop came in...This is the newest from Handy, It is a hydro/pneumatic lift (air runs a hydrolic ram).

Ordered in Black and Orange to match the shop colors of course!

The lift comes with a long ramp so its easier to get the bikes up on it.

The drop out rear panel slides inside the lift when in use.

The best part about this new lift and the main reason i got it is the drop front. It is the first in the industry to have this feature. It really makes doing front tire changes and Traxxion installs a breeze.

Another benefit is the height. This lift goes up to 48" compared to the 30" or so from my other lifts.

Wish my lift had a drop out for the rear tire.  But it's not used in a professional shop.  So getting it cheap made it worthwhile.  Being lazy air over hydraulic is nice too :drink: .

Very nice features - and so nice looking  (sounds like a desirable date!)

Not nearly as costly as I would have imagined either (so much for the date analogy!)

Awesome lift Jim.  Maybe I can get the nanner down there this fall to get some Freedom cams installed.  I love the long ramp.  Mine drags the frame goig on due to the short ramp and lowered bike.

Cheers, Chris

While in Daytona I saw some guys working on a bike on a lift and I liked the way they had it strapped down.
So today at the Harley shop I was browing and came across these.
Regular 69.95 on sale for 55.00 and since it was St. Patricks sale day they were another 15% off the 55.00.
So I bought them.

They are rated at 2500# each and will swivel and retract.
Seemed like a good idea so thought I would share.
Makes a neat addition to the lift.

Now here is how I normally strap a bike down on the lift.

How come you don't use the eye bolts on the lift? :nixweiss: They're made for the tie downs, but you don't use them. :nixweiss:

Using the old straps I wanted to always make sure the straps were secure in the holes on the lift. In the holes the straps never came lose.
My thought was using the eyebolts there would be a possibility that if the straps ever came loose they would fall out of the eyebolts. That would be disaster.
The new ratcheting straps make everything simpler.

Chip;
Those look cool. Do the clip onto the lower edge of the lift?

Can you give me the make of them. I would like to get a set to try.

Thanks for posting. :2vrolijk_21:

I bolted them on Jim.
Drilled a 3/8" hole on each side of the lift.
Simple install.
We took a 200 mile ride today, came home, put the SERG on the lift, very easy now!

www.cargobuckle.com
I would think Drag, CC or Parts Unlimited would carry them!

I use those when travelling with the trailer. Never had a problem. Good product.

Even though I haven't mustered up the nuts to put Thumper on it, here's some pictures of my new Handy S.A.M. 1000 Lift.  I also got the Low-Boy Scissor Jack, the Handy Lift Dolly.........and no idea why I bought 'em.............the 12" extensions for S.A.M. Lift.  I may yet use them, but that remains to be determined.  Depends on if I have enough ass to push Thumper onto the lift or not.  Bought the set through Mile-X Equipment.  Total was $1448.73.

the race deck flooring is pretty nice looking especially when new. It kinda noisy when you walk on it- klomp-klomp-klomp. I will probly go back to epoxy because i melted a bunch of spots while welding :bananarock:

Thanks for the info.

I have the epoxy waiting for warmer weather to apply.  I sure like the look of the race deck.

The epoxy will be better for me with clean up and touch up.  Too much mud/sand to deal with off the road into our new house with the snow and new construction.

Well, Renea took her plants outside this morning and plans to put them in the gardens this evening.  I, on the other hand, gave in to this beautiful Alabama weather, took four hours of vacation time this afternoon, and took Thumper for a short 200 mile ride.  Now that I've had my fix, I gotta get the bugs off of Thump.  Worked up the nads and put her on the lift.  Wasn't too bad.  She's a big Girl tho'.

Nope........but now that I really look at the picture, there is that illusion.  I was  :nervous: when I elevated the lift.  did it one stop at a time until I was sure nothing was going to contact the motorcycle.

Howdy Warren,
Shoot!  She's already down and off.  I used soft ties around the handlebars hooked to cinch straps into eyebolts on the lift.  Soft ties were placed around the the bars only at the point where they protrude from the fairing cap........leaving the clutch, brake, throttle, and idle lines outside the loops.  Cinch straps were drawn just enough to remove slack.  If the front wheel is all the way in the vise to the stop, and secured well, the motorcycle is stable.  Straps are there for Thumper's safety and mine.

The best way (i my opinion) to tie the bikes down on the lift is to run the sft strap around the highway peg mount or the floor board mount. I do this many times a day. The benefit is that the straps are down low and out of the way when working on the bike.
