one hell of a lucky streak riding a motorcycle as described above and being unscathed.

Good point, maybe a couple of Mega Mill tickets too.

One thing I find curious do you see the crack on the other side, if the bars were broken from pulling down with the tiedowns wouldn't it have broken from the top not the bottom?

If they gave under only the stress of the single direction of pull, yes.  But it's flexing up and down under rebound.  So I'd doubt it'd be absolutely predictable.

It also looks like it's been broken for awhile, see the rust on the break. As I think back... the bars have been like this for many miles, I just never thought they were broken. duh
Any way the next step is get it to my dealer and see if and how much the extended warranty will cover. And if they will install the bars I want.

Oh god, just thinking about being on the road with those nearly broken through makes me cringe.  Not much scarier on a bike then the thought of each side of the handlebars turning willy nilly independent of each other and neither controlling the wheel.  I'd rather be the Road Runner's Coyote then the poor bastard on that ride.

Once again, just so glad the final break happened safe.  Get her fixed and ride the hell out of it.

Mine broke right in the same place, but only on one side. The other side was fine.

I think we were in Daytona, playing around on some back roads when one side went foreward and the other side came back towards the tank.

What ever bar you choose to replace the one you have now....see if the dealer will swap up for the WO575's or some other bar.....use the new one piece clamp from Harley. You dont have to grind on it to make it fit like the aftermarket ones.

Good luck :2vrolijk_21:   It seems to be on your side....so good luck again :2vrolijk_21:

Kind of makes you wonder if internally wired handlebars are that great as that is where it is broke.
