Way to go Don - pretty sweet to hear her fire - isn't it?

Did you have to clearance your TP boxes to clear your valve spring retainers?

congrats!    :2vrolijk_21:

Scott

Yeah, you've got to love electric fuel pumps and engine management.  No matter how "new" a motor is; if it's close she'll fire :2vrolijk_21: .

And no Scott, didn't have to do a thing to the TP boxes.  They were good around valve springs, caps, everything.  Maybe not a lot of room.  But room.

The only clearance issues I had were that silly cylinder base cover on the left side.  That was a two minute minor.  The only major was the billet push tubes.  The inner tube on each side had to be clearanced because of the fat beefy robust beautiful wonderful Axtell cylinders.

The only internal clearancing was the expected.  Setting ring gap.  But you always count on checking/doing that.

Hope when you get back that you don't have any leaks and everything looks/sounds great.  Good to hear she's running again.     :cherry:    :cherry:    :cherry:

Ok, this time I'm really gone to the garage.  Back in a bit to let you know :2vrolijk_21: !

Hanging from the ceiling (the heater, not me) :drink: .

Second heat cycle.  All clean.  No runs (except from where I topped off the tranny fluid), no drips and no errors.  At least not yet.  Had to come back and look up the procedure to set the lash on the cruise control cable.

Back after bit :2vrolijk_21: .

Lookin' good Don.  Glad you like those Fat Cats.  It is an awesome system.  Gotta thank JR for introducing me (and Phaze) and others to them.  Best I've found all 'round - performance and sound not being objectionable to me or bsr.

Finished.  Ask me again after it's seen highway RPMs for a continuous period of time. But so far no drips anywhere.  Everything is back on except for the right saddlebag.  No sense in it going on until the bike comes back from the dyno.  New pads on.  Wheels all polished while it was cooling off the last time.  Fluids topped off.  Heated seat on.  Bike all wiped down followed off by a coat of polish.  Most important; it's back down on it's kickstand like the travel gods intended.  Yeah team.

hehehehe, already got a PM about "what's in there?"

This had gone on long enough guess I just assumed it was a known quantity.  Never unwilling to talk about my bike though.  This will be everything there even if not done recently.  The recent corrections/additions will be (of course!) in red.  Here goes:

The Buttonfly Resurrection

Stock untouched bottom end
GP bearing support is installed
Primary chain tensioner is in there too
50 mm throttle body and intake
Feuling oil pump, lifters and cam plate
Dave Mackie 598 gear drive cams
Axtell 3 15/16 cylinders for 107" along with Axtell pistons, static CR approx 10.25:1
HTCC CNC ported heads tweaked to mate with with the Axtell jugs and pistons
D&D Fatcat 2-1 exhaust

Guess that's it.  If I missed anything someone will point it out.

Almost afraid to ask in case it was somehow forgotten and you still have one of their parts on the bike, but . . . . . . did you take out the Zipper's by-pass shim, or didn't you do that on yours? :nervous: :nixweiss:

So without touching the bottom end you can get it dynoed without any break-in?  Can't wait to see the numbers on this build versus what you had before.  Congrats on what sounds like will be a stout-running motor!

The Feuling cam plate has its own spring.  As much as I hate to admit there are one Zippers component on the bike.   The air intake.

50mm seemed a good size for what I was wanting to achieve with this set of components.  Already had their 50mm throttle body and intake.  Damn things were just too expensive to replace simply out of spite.  No apparent problems with the ones I've got.  So kept on using them.

Thank you sir.  With the 2-1s they're not twins again :2vrolijk_21: .

Would've been so embarassing to come out of some bar or restaurant some time and throw a leg over the wrong saddle.

Not worried about it at all Brian.  A few heat cycles in it tonight.  Probably do another couple in the morning along with a bit of riding before it gets to the dyno.

One consideration also is that Golden will be doing it.  He's done so many and is so good at it that we're not talking about hours and hours of dyno time and dozens of pulls.  John will have it dialed in quickly and with much less abuse on the motor than a common dealership dyno wonk would give it.
