I can't believe there was no love for the Sportys on this poll. :-*

The wife started on an 883, rode it for a year and then graduated to a 1200 low, its her version of a "nanner."   :bananarock: :bananarock:

My lady's been riding for less than a year. For her first bike she picked a 07 Road King Custom. She's 5'11" (taller than me) and on the thin side but she handles it beautifully. She's still working on her skills but I have every confidence in her.

Hmm...does she have red hair??

My wife is also 5'11 (taller then me), and on the thin side (except for some surgical enhancement - if I remember correctly, a trade off for some chrome or some such chit).  She used to ride quite a bit.  She had a Kawasaki Vulcan 750.  But, she would not go take the test for her permanent motorcycle endorsement on her drivers license.  So...I eventually told here if she didn't go take the test, I was going to sell the bike. l'm pretty sure the insurance company would frown of riding well beyond the limitations of the learners permit.

But, she is a very happy and content BSR and I am happy to not have to worry about her having an accident, even though she was a skillful and careful rider.

There are times I miss my BSR! However, seeing the smile on her face as she's riding her own scoot makes up for it!  :)

It's nice not having the back of your helmet clobbered when the sight seeing BSR swings her head forward when you surprise her with a gentle break application.

My wife took the Rider Saftey Course and has been riding since the summer of 2000. She started out with a 2000 883 Sporty...... A year and a half later moved up to a Dyna LowRider..... Now She is on a 2005 Softail Deluxe. having said all of that I think that the Deluxe is the way to Go :coolblue: the seat height is perfect, the Center of Balance seems to be perfect, and it is a little heavier for the long trips.....A sporty is nice to start out on but anyone I known with a Sportster moved up a year or so later......Dave

Mine first learned on an '05 1200C at 50 years old. At 5'4" - 115 we lowered the front and back. After bags, shield, lights and lots of chrome we got her an '07 FLHX. First 2 1/2 years of riding she has 24,000mi of saddle time and 2 new bikes.

My hat off to all the ladies who learned how to ride and those that still ride the sportster line of HD bikes.  I have never ridden one.  I could not get over the feel on the sales floor.  I opted for a non HD bike to learn on - I bought a Suzuki 800 Intruder.  I aspired to get a low rider one day, but we started to do a lot of travel on the bikes, and I learned quickly that I wanted a bike with more width to load stuff wider, instead of going higher.  I did not have the cash to get a heritage when I traded my 800 on a 1500 Intruder.  From that it was a easier move to the Road King and now I am on the Electra Glide.  I would like to try to ride a sporty some day, because now that I have the basics of riding down, I'd like to figure out what it was that threw me off so much when I was first starting out.
