Young and Dumb
« on: March 08, 2008, 12:32:13 PM »

Hello everyone, I'm Derek Kale. I just got back from Daytona and it was a lot of fun, i got the chance to go to dinner one night with the CVO group. it was a good night and enjoyed the company everyone was real cool.....even tho the food sucked..... lol but the night was great. I drive a Hooters Pro Cup car for Heritage Motorsports. Carl 'HUBBARD' is one of the owners of the team. on a side not even tho Harry's road king made him look bad Hubbard is still the Man! .... no bias even tho he signs my paychecks :2vrolijk_21:  anyway i cant say much Michelle hurt my feelings more than once this bike week. but next year........  I have a 2008 Fat Bob i know its not a CVO but I'm working towards that. I have put a cam and Rinehart pipes. I will be doing a lil more work as well when i get a few more miles on her but she doesn't get left in the dust too much. Ill get some pics up of the bike ASAP. Thank you everyone for the good time this past week and especially thank you to Harry and Michelle for all theere hospitality. I also want to send a Shout out to OTIS. i got to hang out with him all week and hit up main st. every night. As anyone who know him can vouch for me, but he kept me in stitches all week. what a hoot.

Welcome to the group here Derek.  Have listened to Carl so many good things about you for quite awhile now.  Good to see your own words drop in now too.  Good luck playing with the Fat Bob and have a great season at the track!

Derek

Welcome to the site!
Was good meeting you in Daytona.
Between Otis and Hubbard you should be ruined in a short time.
Nancy and I enjoyed riding with you and just give it time, a Screaming Eagle is in your future!
Please keep us informed as to what's happening with your racing.
On this site Hubbard is the man but we know it's just a matter of time till you outrun him.
Until then give him hell!

Hey Kid, you're certainly welcome here.  Don't matter if your Street Bob is not a CVO.  At 22, I didn't own anything but a Honda Goldwing and some used furniture.  I think that was the year I bought my 1st car.  I hope your racing season is a success.

Derek,

Welcome aboard!  It was great meeting you in Daytona this week.  We look forward to watching your success in the racing circuit and wish you the very best.  You hit it dead on with Otis, he can sure crack a guy up!  I'll have to record his rendition of that green bagger encounter and save it for when I'm having a bad day. One playback of that and I'll bust a gut!  Keep in touch and we look forward to more rides with you in the future.

Welcome aboard, Kid!  You're not only one hell of a Race Car Driver, you rode with some of the best there is on two wheels, and you fit right in!  We'll do it again soon, too!  I'm glad you had the honor of meeting all my Bud's on the Site, OTIS, Harry & Michelle, Chip & Nancy, Gettinold & Helen, and all the rest of those Fine People.  While I stand a little disappointed in the fact you got to see the demise of Ol' Maudie, you know me well enough to believe that August event will be short lived.  But what the hell, right?  That's Racin'!  Harry did his homework, and busted my a$$!  I'll live to Race another day, and I will be in the front.  I've decided to retire Ol' Maudie, and a "Street Glide", is on the horizion.  I'm always proud of you, Kid, and you are definitely going to Win some Races this Season.  I'm takin' Ol' Maudie over to the OTIS Estate tomorrow, to have her cleaned and serviced.  Had a Blast and can't wait 'till we go Racin' on April 19.  :2vrolijk_21: Later--HUBBARD

Derek,

We really enjoyed spending time and riding with you.   Michelle really had a ton of fun playing with you, next time you may get to even the score.  :nixweiss:    We look forward to your next visit and please plan on staying at the house now that you can find it :) .   You are quite the lucky young man to run with such great people Like Otis, Hubbard and Cherrie definitely top notch folks.    We really hope to see you in the winners circle several times this year.   Best of Luck with the racing and please keep in touch.

Dave,
Just saw your post.  Everything's for sale.  50 Large.  Any takers?  Didn't think so.  I doubt seriously if I would take that.  Lots of good memories.  I'd be sick if I saw someone else 'astraddle the Ol' Girl, you know?  Later--HUBBARD

The bigger the decal the bigger the sponsorship ($$$). Racing/sponsoring doesn't come cheap.

Dave,
I didn't mean that to reflect no one here has that kind on money.  We both know that's not true.  It does cost a huge amount of money to Race that Series.  I have PMd' naitram with some questions and ideas I have concerning a CVOHARLEY wrap on the Car, and on the 53' Transporter.  It's his call.  And, whatever his call is, will be the way it is, and will be perfectly alright with me.  Later--HUBBARD

I understand that Carl, but Neal questioned where the  sticker was on the car. I'm all for kicking in some $$$$ to get a decal on the race car to cover some of that paint. Just need some kind of organized way and a dollar amount that is needed to make it happen.  :2vrolijk_21:
Also will be speaking to the guy here in town that I know about the graphics on the car we talked about in Daytona.

Dave & Helen,
That's great!  Harry, (Unbalanced), came with the idea of the "EAGLE RIDERS", logo, or Wrap, on the Race Cars and the 53' Transporter, without Harley affliation, and he is working on that.  When I get all the facts, I will contact Naitram, and seek his input and approval.  It may not materialize into anything, but it's worth a shot, IMO.  You never know until you ask, right?  We have a Port-folio in place for Sponsorship, but Gary, (Derek's Father, and my Business Partner), and I, can tweek that at will.  There are a bunch of Team Owners' in the USAR Hooters Pro-Cup Series, and Race Car Dirvers', that own Harleys.  Race Day is always busy, but I've never seen anybody to busy to talk about Harleys!  BTW, I just bought a Brand New, Long and Tall, Black, (of course), Western Star 4900-EX to pull the FEATHERLITE Transporter to all the Races.  I have retired my Old Restored Western Star 4964-F, and have contracted an Old Friend of mine, to drive the New Tractor, as I cannot be away from our Dealerships anymore, for the time it takes to Transport the Race Car.  As you know, the Truck Driver is the first one there, and the last one to leave.  Especially, when you Pre-Race Test the Car, you are gone for a week, minimum.  When we go to Iowa, you are gone for 9-10 days.  I love Racing, but I just can't be away from our Dealerships that long again.  Gary and I have 114 people depending on us for their livelihood, and we don't take that lightly.  Business first, pleasure second.  Hope you and Helen are well, and I always enjoy seein' ya'll.  :2vrolijk_21: Later--HUBBARD

I got interested in racing believe it or not when the movie "Days of Thunder " came out. Ever since, I've been a big fan. I would LOVE to be even the tiniest fraction involved in some way, so when this comes together, count on me for a few dollars.

WOW is this cool

I think it's very cool and would support it monetarily.
I think www.cvoharley.com is what should be on the side.
What else directs people to this site?
With the exception of www.flhsei.org there is nothing else.
I guess Naitram could check with his "powers to be" (attorney) to see what would fly.
And guess what, consultation with an attorney isn't free. (right Neal)
I'm in!

Aside speaking out of school, natiram's concern was our Race Team making money from the Harley-Davidson name.  Namely, CVO Harley.com, etc.  That said, who's to say we couldn't use "Eagle Riders", as a base.  Harry and Neil are researching this as we speak, so I understand.  It remains Neil's call, as he owns this Site.  It may not go anywhere, but it's worth a shot.  Stranger things have happened, I'm sure.  Later--HUBBARD
