New Vance & Hines Monster Ovals
« on: March 17, 2008, 05:16:57 PM »

Any thoughts on the new Vance and Hines Monster Ovals?  Remind me of the SPOs .  V&H is definetely making a PC stement with sayings like "Monster Ovals crush the old saying that more power requires more noise"

If I was in the market, I'd spend my $700+ on a D&D.  That price is ridculous.

I like 'em.  Might be just what I'm looking for.  Yes, they are on the pricey side but hopefully someone will offer them at a discount.  Wish they would give some indication as to the loudness difference between them and the standard ovals.

They must be trying to pay for the R&D in the 1st few months.  Look better than the SPO's from the end cap view.  You can buy a complete exhaust system for that money.  Will have to see and hear in person on stock headpipes and true duals.

Thanks Skremin for the link.

Look pretty cool - expensive though, especially as I've recently added a pair of slip on ovals. Maybe Santa could errrrr ---- slip em in his sack !!!

Sweet lookin Scoot this though.

wow.  I like that a LOT!  That's way purtier than the SPO"s I have on there now.  I wonder if they sound as good as my SPO's?   Dang it!     :nixweiss:

$799 just for the cans!!!  Don't know what's so different about them that they'd cost that much.  The regular ovals MSRP at $499, I'd have expected these to go for about $550, but not $800...that's the cost of a whole true dual system.   :zstupid:

I believe they also offer a catalyst version for those bikes that came with catalysts (to keep things legal with the EPA I would guess - wonder how many they will actually sell?).  Maybe that ridiculous $750+ price is actually for the catalyst version?  If not, I think I would add a few bucks and buy a complete system from D&D (FatCat) and let the folks at V&H keep their slip-ons.

I know steel prices have risen dramatically in the past couple years, but $800 for two simple mufflers is the kind of pricing strategy that would make the greediest bastard on Wall Street proud.  Maybe they still think we are in the sweet spot of the bubble economy, where people seemed to think spending much more than something was worth made them cool / hip / whatever the latest word is.  I believe you will see a radical change in that suggested retail price in the near future, as well as steep retail discounts from the big dealers.  In other words, for those who really want them, a little patience may save you a significant chunk of change.
