Two Bikes, Six Tunnels, Clear Creek Canyon, Colorado
« on: March 23, 2008, 10:58:33 PM »

Temps were mid 20's when I left, and warmed to upper 30's upon return.  Yee ha!  Rode through snow showers on the descent to the rendezvous.  Have ridden with Chris for four years.  Kicked tires at a dealer then rode up Clear Creek Canyon to a lunch place.  Connected a digital camera, placed it in movie mode, and it worked OK!  Will need to overlook the CVO CHROME reflection in the windshield... next time will place the cam closer to the shield.  Nevertheless, enjoy the canyon, tunnels, and ride...

BTW, as I was preparing to leave in the chill, along comes Mr. Tom Turkey, agitated by the H-D's rumble, emboldened by his raging mating season testosterone levels, ready to defend his harem.  Had to chase him away with a rake.  He does attack the bike if not chased away.  One of these Thanksgivings...

Thanks for the video vacation.  Was that US6 and Idaho Springs?  I stop at Beaujo's sometimes on the way back from skiing.

Got to watch out in the tunnels this time of year, there can be ice in there, nice ride.

Hey what's the name of the bar on Hwy 6 that has the walls and ceiling covered with dollar bills? I can't remember, but it's a great place to stop, lots of bikes in the summer.

Just remembered, Kermitts Roadhouse, great place to stop on Clear Creek ride!

Great Video.  Thanks!

Looked to be a pretty cold day.  Would like to take that ride, but may wait until July or August when the temp is a little warmer.

It is amazing how much the riding in the video resembles the terrain here in Florida!   :apple:

Thanks for sharing!  Being from Northern California and living in Florida we long for the long sweeping vistas of the West.  Really enjoyed the trip!

Thanks all.

Red... Indeed that was Hwy 6 with chow in Idaho Springs, and lunch came down to Beau Jo's or the Two Brothers Deli.  The latter won out because of parking!

You're right.  I spent last week climbing the high peaks of Florida, unguided and without oxygen.  I don't think it's ever been attempted before.  Next time I may actually find them.

Great video, and some interesting effects with the tunnel lighting reflecting off the chrome!  :2vrolijk_21:

Looked familiar,I used to visit Idaho Springs regularly back when I lived in Denver and the Springs. One of my service buddies lived up on the side of the mountain and he had the local Coors distributorship back then, believe his wife was the official "USPS postmistress" there as well. Used to help him deliver the goods and check out all the dives there.  :drink:

Thanks for sharing!
