Dyno Drags
« on: May 04, 2005, 12:43:01 PM »

Has anyone done this? I did it a couple of years ago on my FLHR. It was a real rush!! There is a video clip of myself on my EVO Road King against my buddy on his TC88 Roadglide in the gallery. The file is HUGE 8.5M so if you don't have a high speed connection its not worth trying to download.

I did; Every race. I'm on the Red Road King (Left in the video, Right lane to the announcer)

I had the best time for the weekend in the bagger class. I don't know how accuracte they are but I did a low 11 second 1/4 mile @ 119 mph.

hd-dude, you are right these drags are pretty fun to do with a buddy. I did it at Reno HD durring Street Vibrations last yearand cosistently in the mid to high 10's (10.582, 10.714, 10.837) running 116-122.6 mph. I was also the quickest bike that day. I would recommend doing this at least once for the fun of it.

have seen these many times - have also seen just as many non-owners dragging the owners bike - and have the owner brag how awewsome his bike did with someone else dragging it - whats the point - if you own it - race it - so if we meet on the street - who ya gonna get then - other than that is is bragging rights and it is fun

I agree, this is my bike that I ride and play with. It is mostly curiosity and some bragging rights, but mostly fun when you get strapped down handle bar to handle bar and race a buddy.

I wouldn't ever let someone else drag my bike, wouldn't even consider it. I've seen motors break twice during dyno drags and a belt break once. I agree with you that if you own it race it, (once in a while). It not really about braggin' its just a hell of a lot of fun. [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif]

Way way fun, AND, even the widgit rider that's not real stable and doesn't ride real can safely get out there and have a real gas without tearing anything up... (for the most part) .  My wife is a real cautious rider and seldom gets past half throttle on the road 'cause it intimidates her, but she cuts completely loose when they tie the front end down and LOVE's it! coolbreeze - maybe you should consider getting your wife a front wheel lock for the garage floor and let her rip on it  [smiley=huepfenjump3.gif] [smiley=huepfenjump3.gif] - smell of burning rubber and 115 octane in the garage is awesome - the accoustics is fantastic - oh yeah - dont; forget about the back wheel rollers like they have for rolling your bike around on for the rear wheel - makes a real mess otherwise - but that again is bragging rights - and wash the smoke down with MGD  [smiley=beerchug.gif]

I think everything you own should have a chance at some kind of competition.

If it will not go to redline what good is it!

The stick in the mud neighbor up the street called the cops when me and my next door neighbor were racing lawn mowers up the street. Explaining to the cops wasn't the worst part.
My neighbors riding mower is faster than mine. [smiley=thumbsdown.gif]

Me and a bud Darrell got pulled over in Daytona and both given tickets for speeding.
We had stopped at Millers and  the Vespa store besides Millers was doing demo rides.
Yup, 33 in a 25 on a Vespa.

As the guys in Charleston that built Nancy's Lowrider said, "horsepower is a very addicting drug"

What kind of a neighbor calls the police for racing lawnmowers?  I can understand pulling up a lawn chair.  But calling the police?  [smiley=nixweiss.gif]

Iknow TwoLane,,, what is this world coming to?

My neighbor with the fast mower has two Aprilia's and I think we just annoy the old fart up the street.

I'm just glad I know someone older than me that I can call an old fart! [smiley=huepfenlol2.gif]

Now where else but this site are you going to find:

A) That line at the beginning of a sentence

and

B) Just know that it's part of a legitimate and important conversation.

You'se guys should be ashamed!  Irritating the nieghbors gives all us bikers a bad name!  You two need to drag you sorry selves over to that poor neighbor and apologize, and to show your sincere, mow their lawn with those horrible machines to show you're truly sorry...   And!  (since any job worth doing is worth doing well, youu should make sure you mow it all the way to the roots, (so it lasts longer), AND you should do it at, oh...say 2:am so you don't disturb their outdoors activities...

this is what we looked like last time we got busted...
