Stretch was one of the good guys. He spent many years trying to get a HD franchise and finally came true in 1993. He was a rider first and always participated in  rides for a good cause.

He knew no strangers, he spoke with everyone as if they were old friends.

He will be missed.................

 William "Stretch" Smaltz
November 28, 1939 to April 18, 2008

An icon in the Harley-Davidson community and a devout POW/MIA supporter ended his 12 year long battle with kidney cancer on Friday. He will be sorely missed but remembered by the smiles he brought to our faces, the hugs he gave us everytime he saw us and the words of encouragement to be our best everyday.

So sorry to hear of the loss of such an iconic figure. I am sure he leaves behind a legend created by acts of spontaneous kindness and generosity. My thoughts and prayers to all who feel the loss.

Warmest Regards,

2008 Friends of the Forgotten POW/MIA Philadelphia Ride for Freedom
Sunday, June 1
Please meet at 8:00 am for the police escorted ride from Smaltz's H-D. We will depart Smaltz's H-D at 9:00 am. We are expecting hundreds of motorcycles, so please arrive early. The ride will be dedicated to the memory of Stretch.

For those who are interested, this was one of the rides that Stretch was very involved in...
