Im not sure if this qualifies as the same thing But Don and I did use our bluetooth intercoms  on our nolan helmets just recently when we went to Laughlin. We were on seperate bikes and it worked great!  :)

Are the Nolan's using a true BT for the intercom or using the cell phone?

Do you know if the Nolan's are simplex or duplex, couldn't find it on their site but the Cardo's are duplex.

Simplex - works like a walkie talkie
Duplex - works like a telephone

Duane, it's been awhile since I read the manual.  But think I remember it being full duplex with either the wired or wireless intercom options on the N-Com system.

The one immediate potential downside to doing as they described above is the N-Com's bluetooth module pairs to only one device.  So if you pair it to another N-Com module for intercom use you can't pair it to a phone or anything else at the same time.  Not a bad thing at all if you don't want to screw with the phone while on the bike though.

Don, the phone is really not an issue, not real interested in using it when riding.

Although, the Zumo with the BT is a nice feature, as you can see who is calling, could be nice for when you get that "when are you going to be home" call.

Actually, I really don't want any comms, I like it the way it is.

But - my wife wants to be able to talk, and though I can hear her fine it does not work well the other way, especially if I decide to use the full face.

So, comms would be for that, and Glenn, being a HOG road captain is big on the comms and CB.

I have considered the comms with maybe a CB hookup for that purpose.

The Cardo unit seems relatively inexpensive and the new model will pair to more then 1 BT. And it is full duplex.

There was another unit that I had just seen before York and was very tempted to order it but forgot. That unit was able to also work with a half helmet, using a behind the head type headphones.

Now I don't remember where I saw it  :nixweiss:

For anything more than bikes riding in relatively close proximity the N-Com thing won't be the right tool Duane.  It's Bluetooth range.  So variable and not far.  They'll automatically reattach as you move in and out.  But for someone at the front and rear of a HOG group or something like that the com's wouldn't reach.

Anyone tried these Scala Cardo's Q2's as Duane asked?

We SEEG owners have no communications on our bikes.  Looking to be able to: 1) talk to my daughter (passenger), 2) my wife on her bike, and 3) be able to link to a Zumo if I get one.

Any help, tips, advice would be appreciated.  Phone use is not really needed.  Thanks, bob

I have been looking at the Scalarider Q2 that is full duplex and links multiple bluetooth devices, four I think. I do need the phone function and use that on the Zumo now but without the headset. Just knowing who is calling helps a lot when on a trip. About to pull the trigger so will let you know how it all links up.  :)

Bob,

There are 2 different versions of the Cardo, a newer version is supposed to have a greater range.

Do you really?

How did you survive before the Zumo 550?

Spent a lot of time going around in large circles.  :rolleyes4:Problem with that is every trip around looks like something new when you have short term memory problems! ;D
I carried the Zumo in my pocket at Knoxville and about had to use it to get back to the bike. Glad I don't drink!
The phone feature is really nice, it shows your directory, missed calls, dialed calls, just about everything your phone does.

Says 1680 feet on flat ground for the Q2 Duane.  Others I have seen have been 500 feet.  Also has an embedded FM radio.

Would hate to buy and J&M or someone else come out with something more useable real soon.  But that's the way electronics are I guess.  Bob

That review you listed on HD is the first time I read anything on the new version. The review is very favorable and for the price looks like it just might be the ticket.

I heard from someone (don't remember because I didn't think it was important) that J&M has a bluetooth unit coming out that has the best of everything, but not until late December.

I am not interested in the CB stuff, don't really even want the intercom, but Deb wants to talk when riding so this might be it.
