Has anyone been following this program on Friday nights on the History Channel? What a fantastic series. It's presented by Enterprise Rent a Car, whose CEO formerly served on the USS Enterprise. It's all about the USS Enterprise's career during WWII in the Pacific, and the Pacific Naval campaign. It's extremely well presented and documented by numerous USS Enterprise crew members from the war, and many noted US Military Historians. It makes me so proud to see the bravery of our troops back then, and how being attacked in Pearl Harbor caused us to build up a US Naval Carrier Force that allowed our Navy to destroy the Imperial Fleet, and avenge Pearl Harbor by destroying all the Carriers in the Imperial Fleet that attacked us on 12/7/41!

I salute all those brave men from that era and other eras, as well as all of those that wear the uniform and serve and protect us today! God bless you all, and God bless America!!! :2vrolijk_21:

I'm into that stuff too.  There is a modern day version on PBS ending tonight called "Carrier".  It's about life aboard the USS Nimitz.

Hoist,

My dad was one of those WWII carrier sailors, and nothing me more proud when I took him to visit Pearl Harbor last year when he and my mom came to visit me here on Oahu.  When he went to Pearl Harbor he had his WWII Veteran hat with his ship name on it (USS Boxer CV-21) and stranger would just come up and thank him for his service.  He was so humbled that that many people recognized his service more than a half a century ago. But I have to admit his 2 1/2 years of service during WWII he has a lot more stories than my 20 plus years of service.
