Which is why if the 2009 SERG is a 110, I'll pass.

It cost me under $5k parts (including breather, exhaust and SERT) and labor to bump LD from a 96" to a 103" As I recall the total was around $4,700.

Pull the motor, bore the case yada yada yada and you're over $10k. I'd be better off spending the $10k on a TP 124 for LD.

B B

$8500 to rebuild a 110 with all the best chit, including new HD cases. $6800 for a new Jims 120. Jims has a 131 too. Those are you options. And you ain't putting a TP or anything else in a 110 or LD or any other '06 Dyna/'07/'08 without changing everything else too (trans, I&O primary, yada, yada, yada)! There are no engine replacements for these bikes except a Jims as of now. HD pantents. Better do your homework dude! ;)

This might explain it but I wouldn't know. I placed a self imposed restriction on reading the Cybil thread.

Thanks RedDevil
Here's my mindset for those who might think I'm taking this thread off topic. DC Fireman has made mention of a letter about to be sent out from the MoCo to 110 owners that may/may not be the resolution to the issues with that motor. If it is or if the MoCo feels it is then obviously the 2008 CVO models will continue to have 110 motors. We've had a pretty solid report that there will be an 09 SERG. Of course that gets me wound up as I love RG's so of course I want one BUT, I have never been one to leave a bike stock. Now I don't get too far out there, but I do like to kinda blueprint em so to speak and either finish what the beancounters at H-D Inc wouldn't let engineering finish or correct what's wrong with em. This thread has been a good source of info to me on what the issues are with them, but I hadn't seen anybody talk about what you could do with off the shelf Screamin Eagle parts with a 110.

B B

Dang it Big B, I thought you and I had this "beancounter" issue ironed out.  Please refrain from blaming ACCOUNTANTS for issues created by executive management.   :P  ;)

So they (you) don't cause the mistakes.  You just count them :huepfenlol2: .

Well I've been referred to as an "Effin Engineer" on more than one occasion by a Production Super who wanted to ignore proper engineering principals Ship's Specs, safety factors even telemetry issues so he could meet schedule. My point about the beancounters is sometimes accounting has to step in a tell Sr Management what the cost of something is. Any engineer worth his salt wants everything perfect. 99% of all execs just want to count the money. Marketing wants to trumpet to world they've got the best product on the market and so forth. Most products find their way to market via a process involving all parties. The beancounters get the blame whenever a product has to be made more cost effective. But marketing is to blame also because they say " well it won't sell at $300 above our target price" And of course you're right, it comes down to the Execs to make the final decision. That being said, there's a process we repair ships by these days called SHIPMAIN. It was invented by, championed by and is administered by beancounters. Sorry dude, nothing personal but we all have our personal boogeyman. That's mine.

Its all good B B.  Were just firing more shoots in the long standing fued between accountants and engineers.  Its just the term that gets under my skin.  If you wanted to call me an "Effin Accountant" or even an "Effin Chithead Accountant" that would be better.  Don uses the term "Labelcounter" which is, I guess, technically what I do so you can throw that in as well.   :huepfenlol2:

That would make you very special in an elite class.
Is that a problem.

Just remember, I didn't say high class, just class!
