Not saying I doubt you heard what you heard, but dealers often say lots of things that turn out to be not quite the case....

So, I guess I'll believe it when I see it.  It would be a big change of stance by the MoCo if issuing a general recall were the case.

I'm wondering if this is part of the parts program we've been talking about and waiting for for the past 2 months or so. I can understand how a parts program could be intrepreted as a callback / recall.

Maybe something is starting to happen.

I like the use of the wording though...CALLBACK, vice recall.  That makes it sound voluntary.  "We're doing a free fix, if you have had any problems, and you want us to fix it.  This way we're not admitting that there is a wide-spread problem with the 110s."  Gotta love the MoCo...they could give Obama a run for the money in the world of political verbage.

The Harley Dealer Web should confirm this.

If what the dealer says is true then you can bet your a$$ that the 110's will still be in the 09's. This is to show potential  CVO buyers that "everything" is under control. THE MUFFMAN

Dogols post makes sense from the MoCo's perspective.  Would also explain "the letter" rumors since that would be the way they would announce it to owners more than likely.

If so get ready for a TREMENDOUS shortage of parts for the foreseeable future, unless they were proactive......

The company heads say there is no problem.  Willy G. says there is no problem.  The dealers say they haven't even heard of any problems and you shouldn't believe what you read on the internet...hmmm...where am I reading this latest rumor of an upcoming fix?  Letters were supposed to have gone out in three weeks and immediately after hearing about that the "inside information" mysteriously dried up and it went from three weeks to soon to be patient to it's anybody's guess.  Parts are now supposedly being stockpiled in advance of a nation-wide campaign to fix what needs fixing.

A recall is a proactive action to correct the units that have even the potential to fail (e.g. "no fires have been reported, but the possibility exists that the wutchie could separate and may cause a fire".  This latest rumor, if indeed true, sounds like nothing more than fixing the problem only after it happens.  Not any different than what they do now.

I have given up any hope of anything coming from the MoFo MoCo.

That was the whole plan iski. Get parts to the dealers before the letter goes out. I was told the letter would go out after July 1, most probably after the holiday weekend. If it's going to happen as foretold, we should see something really soon.

Only covers 07 , new graphite heads gaskets and square base oring/gasket also cylinders, upper and lower rocker boxes.  Guess all us 08's aren't included because we don't have the issue. :confused5:

Magoo, I've been trying to find out what parts are in the 'kit'. I hope you're right and its not just gaskets and o-rings as I was starting to fear.

I'm looking for me letter soon.

Saw the tech bulletin this afternoon at the dealer, was talking to the shop guys and asked them about it.  They just finished a bike that had bad head gaskets & cylinders using the new parts (test case?) and said it was the quietest 110 they ever rode.

This is starting to sound better and better. Real documentation. Woo Hoo!
