La Ka-Ka conia 2005
« on: June 20, 2005, 08:19:46 AM »

And we're baaaaack!

Laconia was a good time. Y'know..if you like rain and sweatshirts in mid-June.

Rode up on Thurs night. Caught the rain. AND...my new headlight vibrated loose and dropped down a bit, giving me a prime view of my front fender.

Guess who didn't have wrenches? (and who put together that kit yesterday upon his return)

Anyway. I got a nice place to stay right next to the music tent thanks to my bud Gianni, who also happens to work for Budweiser. (B to the E is liquid crack). Nice, safe area with covered parking.

Friday was spent at the Broken Spoke (of course). Fun day there...started out crappy. Sun broke through briefly (see photo). And you'll notice my ride got prime parking right next to the stairs (with me hulking over it on the stairs).

The parking scene was awesome. Early in the day, it was soup all along the side of the Spoke, which for those who've never been, is how you get around to the front for parking. Well...it is New Hampshire...and there is a little hill that one must climb to get down there. And the fun begins...

I watched several guys just blow it off, not wanting to get their precious new rides dirty. Oh yeah...it's easy to spot a guy with his first bike :)

So, my buddy Bamboo and I figure...we're getting good parking by default. He jumps in front on his VTX and slowly eases up the hill. Starts slipping a bit, and decides that power defeats mud every time.

...sending an awesome rooster tail of mud all over me and my bike. (Did I mention I wasn't wearing a helmet and my hair was down?...yeah...I'm a chick)

So...we got our parking. I still need to clean the mud off the bags. And then went back to watch others.

Enter "sport-bike-guy". Who slid down the hill while trying to get up it...almost through the fence in front of Indian Larry's bike. Imagine the hilarity had that gone down....EEEK! Thankfully, we didn't see anyone drop their rides.

I take that back. Bamboo saw a guy go down coming back from Mt. Washington on Thurs. afternoon. Guy was riding a beautiful AI, or Big Dog, or something...and was drunk. Sounds like justice there.  Nobody seriously hurt...'ceptin' the bike.

The Spoke didn't have the burnout pit for the second straight year. Which is due to the town trying to cut down on shenanigans.

It didn't help. Guys just chose to bake 'em off in front of the porch. One guy on his CBR liquified his tire...and had no replacement. Opting to ride the rim out of there.

The rains came at about 5. It was all about the social at that point.

Went to the strip Friday night. DEAD! Plenty of parking. Everyone just either stayed home, or went home cuz there was no crowd at all.

I'll assume Laconia wasn't as well attended as projected.

Either way...51 weeks 'til next year

Do not under any circumstances drink it if you're expecting beer [smiley=drink.gif]  [smiley=thumbsdown.gif]. Kind of a nasty lemon - lime thing. I'd say a hot day, around breakfast time, when you need a pick me up before walking out to get the paper. Adjusts the attitude w/ a little helper [smiley=huepfenjump3.gif].
