Topic: What should I do?? (Read 3225 times)

I am at a cross roads with what I should do, so I thought maybe running this by you guys may help me out.

I currently have the 2007 SERK and did not buy the extended waranty. The warranty will be up in October.

My question is this, should I get the extended warranty or purchase a new bike? The only 08 or 09 that I am interested in is the Cross Bones. Typically, I ride solo, but occassionally my wife will ride. Thanks for any advise.

Personally, I'd stay with the SERK. Get the extended warranty, ride the wheels off & have fun.

I would have to agree. The SERK is one of the better looking bikes out there and there is no limit on the fun factor when your scooting round town or out on the road.

The SERK is a much more versatile bike and gives you the option of touring, taking the wife along and gives you a bit of luggage space...

You said your wife likes to ride sometimes - the SERK is a much better bike for a passenger & also a better bike for any road trips over 100 miles or so.

Get the warranty if you decide to keep the SERK.

Regardless of extended warranty or not, keep the SERK. The SERK is timeless and a great all around bike. If you plan to keep the motor stock on the SERK, get the extended warranty keeping in mind that there are probably cheaper options on the HD extended warranty than your local dealer. If you can add the X-Bones to your stable, go for it, but never would I consider it as a replacement for the SERK.

Keep the SERK, put the money for an ESP contract in an interest bearing account or CD rather than buy the ESP. If you have problems down the road, use the cash to repair the bike. If you don't have problems, the cash will be there to place toward the next bike.

That would have been my advice to anyone prior to the 110 fiasco. Now it comes down to how much you trust the MoCo to do the right thing if your engine fails shortly after the factory warranty expires. I'm not necessarily talking about the things covered by the "upgrade" program, since they should take care of those items, but something like a crank failure would more than wipe out the cash. So it really comes down to my favorite Dirty Harry expression, "Do you feel lucky?".

The tsa's are out for at last some of the 110 issues, get them done, enjoy add bikes as you can!

Make a commitment to the bike you have and get the extended warranty, the 08 is no better or worse and the 09's who knows . The one sure thing is you will loose 10 grand or more if you trade out. I know cause I have screwed my self to many times to count.

Buy the warranty, keep the SERK and buy the crossbones. Life's too short, keep momma happy if she's worth it. Then you got the bar hopper, and the cruiser. Life is good!

Definately keep Road King, Crossbones a good solo bike but after times moves on .....I will bet the RK

will be more timeless................
