Was playing around with my magnetic coating thickness gauge and discovered that my 08 fltr has around 5mils of paint and clear on it, Vivid black.
My 09 fltrse3 had close to 12 mils.

Measured at tank and front fender on both. I expected the cvo to have more but I was surprised at double.

not sure of the point here, just a fact.

The factory paint is I believe is done by robots.  The CVOs are done by humans (which explains defects like fingerprints in the finish) which is going to be much thicker.  After an aftermarket paint job, you will have a difficult time getting bolts through the holes because of the thickness of the paint.
