Exhaust is a big thing to me owning a Harley, both for performance and sound. Before I'd pull the trigger on a SE Fat Bob I'd like to know there is an after market complete exhaust, keeping the unique look of the rear cylinder output and preferably by Rinehart or other reputable maker.

There are a few more out there but I don't think they know about this site.  I saw one the same color as mine on youtube check these out... ...   He's got baffles from big city thunder and it sounds great.  I think this guy had the first one in the US because his video cam out right after HD released the info on the bike.  It looks like we are really lucky to have ours because the word is people are waiting on them all over the country.

Last Saturday I experienced oil coming from the breather.  It splattered all down the right side.  Got it cleaned up.  Pulled the breather assembly off and found oil inside the breather tube.  Cleaned out the breather tube and recharged the K & N filter.  My local service guy said "it's gonna occasionally have some blow by" and he said that there is no "fix" for it.  So I've done a lot of research.  It looks like the Heavy Breather may suck oil from the mounting bolts if it is even a little dirty.  So you gotta be really careful not to get the filter wet.  If it gets wet it won't flow air very well and you get a vacuum thing going where it is actually pulling oil into it and the heads aren't pulling it out and burning it.  I've started a thread on the issue http://www.cvoharley.com/smf/index.php?topic=26882.0 ... I'm gonna keep an eye on the breather watching for any oil.  If I see one drop I'm pulling the breather, cleaning it and recharging the filter.  Oil will clean up but I'm not gonna have oil on my seat.

My oldest son is riding my retired '82 920 Virago.  We've been have a great time riding together.

I take my rain sock with me if there is a chance for rain.  But you can take my advice with a grain of salt because I'm just learning the HD engines. I am hoping the more experienced will chime in and comment on this.  But, I've been using K & N filters for a long time and it just seems to me that if it gets wet it will not "breath" very well.

Get this though.... for months I've been reading all of the nightmares riders have been having with HD Service and especially the 110 engines.  I consider myself an optimist and really hoped that at least some of the complaints were unfounded.  I took my bike in for the 1K service.  Rode it about 10 miles and checked the oil.  Wouldn't you know it, it was a least 1/2" above full.  Do they actually want you to have trouble?  Do they do this on purpose?  Do they let the new kid in service fill your oil tank and no one else checks it?  I'm not trying to start any thing here, I don't need the bad vibes but come on.  I've known to never overfill a crankcase since I was 12.  Engine seals and bearings are gonna take it.  HD engines are already notorious for blow by, why overfill it with one drop.  I don't get it.

Installed the Power Commander and the Rush slip-ons with 2" baffles.  Sounds great and what a power house.  This bike screams  :2vrolijk_21: gotta hold tight through the gears now  :jalapeno:  she'll get away from me!  What a ride.

wouldn't doubt it.  Don't put my bikes through that though.  Keith at Fuel Motto told me that I'd would feel the difference immeadiately.  Man did I under estimate the difference in torque.  Rich her up a bit and what a Screamin Eagle.

The Engine Tempature Management System was kicking in way too often for me... not now she runs much richer and much cooler.  Rode all day yesterday and the rear cylinder shut down 2 times.  Can actually feel the difference on my leg too.  I'm happy with my mods  :bananarock: at least for now  :2vrolijk_21:

Just got mine this past week end. new to Harley, so please excuse my lack of knowledge. Got the red and black CVO 110. Hate the vibration. Outside of that , love the bike. Need some sound. Don't want to give up the Tommy Gun heatshields. Any suggestions for some slip ons with loud Harley sound ? Dealer ship took the baffles out to try and minimize the engine vibration. Now I am popping all over the place. I assume the fuel air mixture is now exploading in the exhaust pipe. I have been told its now to lean with out the baffles. I thought with the back firing it would mean to rich.
  Any comments or help ?

Congrats on the new bike, but get them baffles back in there! :nixweiss: :nixweiss: :nixweiss:

You can cook that motor. And it would be lean, not rich. I can't believe a dealer would do that. Oh wait a minute, what am I saying? ::)

Seriously, to make changes you have to do that in conjunction with a tuning device to remap the ECM. Like a SE Super Tuner and others. Plenty of threads here on that here. You're running way lean without that back pressure. Put them baffles back in for now! Good luck with the new bike! :2vrolijk_21:

Didn't have any abnormal vibration with mine.  I'm new to HD engines too, but I would think that with the 110 and rubber mounts it's gonna shake some.

I'm with Hoist get the baffles back in.

There's a number of mods out there.  I chose the Rush Slip-ons with a 2" baffle didn't want to change the look of the stock exhaust either.  I also put on the Power Commander.  I'm really satisifed with mine.  Believe me this is my first Harley but not my first bike and this baby has got all the torque now I could ever use.

I've got the Black Diamond / Fire Quartz too... enjoy the ride  :orange:

After I reach my 500 mile break in, I'm changing my mufflers to Screamin' Eagle® Street Performance Slip-On Mufflers - Dyna® Fat Bob™ Models part number 80674-08 and then having it tuned

was gonna have V & H put on but dealer didn't have the day I picked the bike up, so, these Pythons went on. I like the way they parallel the jugs, and both turn on the timing cover. Simple, clean design.

and the sound,,, welll,,,,,   heheheeeee :pepper: :jalapeno: :cucumber: :bananarock:

re: oil in the breather,,   I quote the "RTFM"  pg 80   CAUTION   Do not overfill oil tank. Doing so can result in oil carryover to the air cleaner leading to equipment damage and/or equipment malfunction. (00190a)

since they put it in bold print, I think it just might be a little important.

Hi

2009 Fat Bob - Gray/Blue -- 400 miles.

Heat concerned me from the get go so --

Xieds, Jagg 6 Row Cooler, V&H Competiton 2 into1, Progressive 11" rear shocks to lower it

On the Stainless V&H competiton exhaust -- not everbodys cup of tea -- but real short - dumps the heat out and they can hear you coming !!!

As for power -- it seems more than adequate -- have to concentrate on holding on to the damn thing!!

I cut two Fat Bob Chrome Shotgun shields and fitted them to the pipes.  IMHO looks good. With the HEAT involved with the 110, the stainless turns too dark, so the covers set it off nicely.

Does anyone have an idea as to the production figures on these Fat Bobs??

--  nice to be here.

Not really sure why many of you are voiding parts of your warranty by cracking the case and modifying an already awesome engine.....it is a Screamin Eagle after all. I know the dealer who did the mods will back it up (mine says they will if I re exhaust and tune it), but what if we are in ten buck two and something happens?? The MoCo will say sorry, can't help you now. Most MMI techs will agree that too many changes require more maintanance and eventual problems down the road.

Check this out for grins; most of you will laugh but after changing from Syn 3 to Amsoil 20w-50w I lowered the engine temp by 12 degrees and increased hp by 8 (dyno proven) just from adding the Screamin Eagle Revolver Slip -Ons with 1/34 inch baffles. The throttle response is definitely noticable with a much throatier sound.  And the warranty will be honored wherever I go.

How much cooler are your engines with tuners and exhausts?

To me it just ain't worth having them say fu like they have seemingly done to many owners of the 07's 110 engines.

Safe and happy riding to all.....The FXDFSE is a home run.

Just got my hands on a used 2009 FXDFSE in grey/blue  :orange: :orange:, however - Wintertime in Munich Germany so I will not ride it before spring.
I was after a 2010, but no chance to find one in cobalt blue/hellfire flames here in Europe. 2009 model seems technically quite similar, and with some mods it will become my personal cvo one day (and my first harley at all).

Anyone out here who has a grey/blue 2009 with brown leather seat (I am not sure if this color combination fits together).

Cheers,

Jui (Munich, Germany)

I bought a 2010 FXDFSE2 criptic black with hell fire flames back in Feb 2011 it was a dealer owned bike and was never licensed. It had 2225 miles when i bought it and I got 7100 mile on it now. I love this bike it fits me like a glove with plenty of power and a great ride. I will be adding a new exhaust system probably a 2 into 1 V&H pro pipe and a detachable windshield.
I would like to know how many 2010 FXDFSE2 was made and why they are not numbered.

Hi russrudder,

there is a thread here (http://www.cvoharley.com/smf/index.php?topic=64681.0;all) listing all the sales figures in an excel sheet.
As for the FXDFSE2 there have only been ca. 400 bikes produced (three different paintings where cobalt blue only 27 and black the highest figure with 213 bikes).
I don't know how exact the source for these figures is, but it seems FXDFSE2 has one of the lowest CVO production figures at all.

I was looking for cobalt blue FXDFSE2 but no chance so far to find one in Europe. So I decided to go for the 2009 FXDFSE as the bike is very similar and main difference is the seat and the painting (and the sales figures which is significantly higher for the 2009 model).

2010
FXDFSE2 Fat Bob   Cryptic Black / Hellfire Flames   110 CID Twin Cam      Actual   213
FXDFSE2 Fat Bob   Opal Blue / Hellfire Flames   110 CID Twin Cam      Actual   27
FXDFSE2 Fat Bob   Satin Pewter / Sandstone Grind   110 CID Twin Cam      Actual   75
