Oil filter/cooler
« on: August 30, 2008, 12:59:35 PM »

Has anyone ever used or is using a slip over the filter type cooler.I am not intending to subsitute this as a true oil cooler instead take advantage of the looks. There's several on ebay and there made by H-D.I am concerned with the means of fastning to the filter,DS tape ?
Thanks

I used one on a 88 and just installed another one on the 96.  They claim to reduce oil temp by 20 degrees.  I have no way to check for the temp drop but it is aluminum which gets very hot so I figure it is working.  No fastening required. just slide it on.  Not hard to get on I did it in 5 seconds using only my hands.  Easy to do when cold but when hot it gets tighter.  I like it.
