Touch Up Paint
« on: September 22, 2008, 12:04:07 PM »

 :confused5:
Last week I took a rock to the fairing and with my luck it hit right on the gold flake/leaf.  Is there any touch up paint for that or will I have to just deal with it and apply clear coat from time to time?
btw, '08 Crystal Copper and Black Onyx

You might check with the dealer but I would guess the touch-up paint kit for your bike would have copper/black and clear in the kit. The gold striping is probably not in the kit.
I got the kit for my 2006 and it had the Autumn Haze color/ black and the metalflake type clear in the kit.(nothing for the red stripes)

Should be able to pick up some from the dealer. I picked up some for my 08 SE Dyna. It came with two-Candy cobalt blue and midnight blue($30)

Thanks, I did ask at the dealership this weekend and they told me there was no touch up for the gold flake/leaf.  Oh well

Look for a pin striper in your area, he should be able to touch it up with more gold leaf.

For what it's worth, I've been told by a painter that the gold leaf on my bike is in fact NOT paint... It is tape, which of course is why there is some overlapping on the TP lid as discussed in previous threads.

After comparing this bike to my custom painted '91 Hertitage (which has real gold leaf paint) you can definitely see the difference.

A good painter should still be able to help you out though.  Good luck with it.

Take care & ride safe,
