Elvis, one of the things we fight here is thinner air.  So I don't expect the same performance you get, but it should be better than most.  At 5k ft above sea level and when you go anywhere, it get to an average of 9-10k the bikes go through their paces.
Still waiting on the gearset, been over 2 weeks, get the itch.

I have heard through my old dealer that the lowers will improve airflow over the motor, but I prefer to take them off during the summer

I was told the same BS and it's BS!!!   I pulled mine weeks ago and it runs ALOT cooler and looks sharp!  I'm also considering piggy-backing a better oil cooler: either a Lockhart chrome horz. or a HD vert. mounted above the front fender and below the nacelle.  I already swithched to Mobile 1 V Twin and that was good for 10-15 degree oil temp. drop.  But nothing will help if your not moving.............. [smiley=nixweiss.gif] 'these 103" SEFI produce enough to heat for a small country in the dead of winter!

What are the average heat readings people are getting?  I have the lowers on all the time, for rain, and the LCD dipstick reads never higher than 215.  Usually lower than that, but after riding hard for a while, it will settle there.

Mine runs in the 240's on the LCD with the lowers on. I have not tried with the lowers off.

Mine is running 215-220 most all of the time, and I leave the lowers on...

95 degrees outside temp, lowers off, ran scooter for 30 minutes at 100 mph (4000 rpm), LED dipstick reading was 242 degrees, now I spoke with the S&S guys in Laconia NH and was told that their 124" motor runs in 280 degrees area. My typical readings are more around 220 degrees. As I can see from this post I am not alone so I am not alarmed (just not used to having my everyday scooter run so hot). [smiley=bigok.gif]

I was running in the 240's to 260's as well w/ the lowers on.....all the time. I removed lowers and oil temp. droped to a base of  210 to 230. W/ the Mobile 1 it droped to a base temp. of 205 to up again to 240+ if I was really being pushing the 'ol girl: 115+ mph, 90 air temp.

I think there are a few here waiting for the new map for the V&H true duals/stage 1.  HD is a huge sponsor of Andrew Hines, the 2004 NHRA 2004 pro stock bike champion!!
The least they can do is back it up.................................

Food for thought..............Lz

I modified my two '03 FLHRSEI-2 by removing the baffle  on the air cleaner, adding Rinehart exhausts (2 into 2) and a power commander.  To help with heat, I added the "Parade Fan". I also added a 21 tooth primary gear with the 6-speed which allows for easier starting on the clutch and drive train (especially when pulling a Bushtec Quantum trailer and two up).

The bike in Arizona turns the fan on when out in over 100 degree heat.  It stays on in traffic at those high temperatures until crusing around 65 to 70 mph. The one in Santa Fe only turns on intermittently, even at high altitude.

The engineering here is that with more displacement, more HP is generated which in turn creates more heat.  The inherent design challenge is that the rear cyclinder always gets to "enjoy" the heat blowing off the front cylinder.  The more cooling air the better in hot ambiant temperatures.

BTW.  The Power Commander allows for nearly 100 HP with the factory 100+ ft pds of torque. [smiley=laugh.gif]
