Would You Bother With Any of These, and/or What Else?
« on: October 03, 2008, 11:42:27 AM »

Since I'm pulling Cybil's motor again for another rebuild (see the Cybil Thread if ya don't already know why: http://www.cvoharley.com/smf/index.php?topic=21375.msg458141#msg458141 ), I'm looking at adding some new goodies to help her out even more! I'm looking at adding:

New Screamin' Eagle® Big Twin Compensator Package-40274-08 and Screamin' Eagle® Twin Cam Performance Race Clutch Hub Kit-37976-08.

Baker plus One Oil Pan which will require the Alloy Art TXR Stabilizer instead of my TrueTrack stabilizer.

Any other better chit youze would be thinking about right now if you were doing all this work? The motor's coming out. Entire Primary assembly will be removed. Now's the time to make her even stronger than I attempted to do the first and second time. As they say, The third time's a charm!!! ;)

Howie, are you seeing oil temps dangerously high?  If not why buy the new pan and make the redundant rear stabilizer purchase (unless you just want to, then go for it!)?

If that's the only justification needed you'll end up with weird stuff like dual radio amps on a Road King, multiple seats and handlebars and a seat with a built in bidet.

No, the bigger oil pan can't hurt.  But if it don't help either that and it's companion stabilizer pay for the heavy compensator and new clutch.

But hey, they are cool.  And you're in OCD process mode again.  So the process has to run its course full front to back.  Just because it does.  Cybil will be happy when she's done; that's for sure :2vrolijk_21: :drink: .

Hoist,

Have you ordered the New Screamin' Eagle® Big Twin Compensator Package-40274-08 yet? I ordered one about two weeks ago and was told yesterday should ship in 10 days. Thought i would mention, appears there is a bit of a lead time one these. Good luck with the build, sounds like fun and a nice upgrade

Don't even need a roll cage unless you're fast.  It's right there in the NHRA rules.  So that's a speed accessory baby :bananarock: .

I am guessing the noise in the motor that developed in MV has something to do with this????

Wore a flat spot on a Feuling Lifter wheel, and wiped out the cams too Mike!!! All that metal dust is in there somewhere, contaminating everything now!  Gotta rebuild the motor again to be sure there's no chance of any particles left inside! Going with S&S 625G cam, and a few other goodies! ;)

Howie.
Sorry to hear you have to do another build, but practice make better.
So Im sure you will get it on the money this time, (Best of luck)
I would like to know if you would be interested in selling me the true track if you are no longer using it.
Let me know.
Thanks, and again, good luck.
PS, I love my S&S G cams, I think you will be happy with the choice.

Since you asked nicely Dave, I don't see why not! ;D

Trying to decide whether buying the pan and TXR is worth the $$$ for 1 extra qt. of oil. But if I go for it, I'd be happy to sell it to ya! :2vrolijk_21:

I'm running a CR-595 gear drive now, but it's an aggressive cam on the valvetrain and creates very volatile combustion. Not good for a long lasting motor goal. So I'm changing it out to the S&S-625G. It sould provide similar, if not better performance, while being a little easier on the engine components, and allowing me to use my current top end without much modification! ;)
