I HOPE THE TRANSFORMATION IS COMPLETE (SO DOES THE WIFE)
« on: October 08, 2008, 04:32:03 PM »

I finally think I'm done transforming, either that or I am becoming delusional. I made the tour pak detachable, added the Hawg Wired "For in the Face" audio system, replaced the seat with a Corbin "Young Guns" saddle, removed the saddle bag guards, and added the Kuryakyn Starter/Solenoid cover. I am very pleased with all the modifications, I have enclosed some pics.

the bike does look super! BUT:

Traxxion Dynamics front suspension and Bitubo rear shocks: $2,000

Wild One Chubby Bars: $500 or so plus installation.

Should I continue?  ;D

Tom,

Your bike looks great!  :2vrolijk_21:

Remember what was said in the Wizard of Oz movie:  "Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain".

All good suggestions of course.......  and at first I planned to keep mine close to stock, too.   ;D

I forgot to post that I have spent less than $750 on stuff thanks to my motosickle financial adviser, Hogbreath.  It's best to spend less than $750 if possible.

You may need to learn new math (like I did) to do this.

It's dark half of the time. Why ride ONLY in the daylight? HID headlights perhaps. A mere $500. Not including the spots, of course.

You may re asses the saddle bag guards if you ever drop your bike on the downhill side of a slope. Has a nasty tendency to scrape the saddle bag and latch. Don't ask me how I know this

It's because we like ya.  Don't know any good divorce lawyers.  When my wife/BSR gets too loud, I find that getting on the bike & riding away makes it harder to hear her ranting & raving.

Look at it this way.  When you are finished it's time to buy a new bike and start over again.  You are actually saving money by investing in this one  :2vrolijk_21:

Don't listen to Ken....he thinks everything on his bike was done for a tad under $750.00.

NO, I know better. CHERI thinks everything was done for a tad under $750.  ;D

Why didn't you use the credit card?

Because I didn't want you to know that the AK-20 front suspension cost $400!

Then get a 4 bike trailer....It is like a gun safe, buy one twice as big as what you think you need.

Don't ask me how I know this...

Good advice on the gun safe also & don't ask me either how I know this....

BTW - according to my math, a complete tour pack relocation including HogWired amp & speakers runs a little over $200.

Rinehart true duals  plus SERT & Stage 1 are a little over $120

Key words are "little"  & "over".

I prefer Bike SUV to Road Sofa but it's all semantics.   :nixweiss:

The wife encouraged the CVO Ultra buy.  Really.  Suppose after  holding a flashlight on the occasional part on the 02 RK while I cussed about it not fitting was less than fu n at times.  Watching me make numerous trips to the local dealer, hours online ordering doo dads, and shopping at rallys for a couple of years, she figured the CVO would just be a quicker way to get there.  Or she just got tired of holding the damn flashlight.

Less replacement stuff on the CVO, since it comes with a lot of stuff.  But still it needs some different stuff.

BUT, don't buy HD shirts or chaps twice as big as you think you need. That would be silly. IMHO at least. That concept only works for gun safes and bike trailers.

Buy twice as much beer as you think you will need.  This is always a good plan & saves trips late at night to a beer store.

You are right Ken...

I imagine buying a helmet or gloves and boots two times too big would be silly too.
You are wise..............................to trailer to chl...Have fun...

I am round tripping to Gainseville Saturday to spend twice as much money as one of a sound mind should on a motorcycle.

Absolutely true on cigars.

Wish I had twice as much time as I think I need for riding....... need a time stretcher.

Solid advise.  I bought half what I thought I would need on tuesday.  What a disappointment.  I'll have to buy the other two halves today.

Did you ever use your lighter while riding?  I did mine once.  Set the cruise at 75 and had that thing in a death grip.  I was so afraid of dropping it while fishing around to put it back in the hole.

Unlike you guys, this may be considered thread jacking...BUT, I've been pondering...

Imagine you were on your HD traveling at a rather high rate of speed

.....say......at the speed of light

........in outer space

.....backwards

And you flipped your headlights on...Would they shine forth...or would they simply just glow?

If you were going forward, would you outrun them?

I'm a really deep thinker.

Let me get my Interstellar Quantum Physics text out to see if you can get into Joe's tomorrow and to see if Deer travel faster at night than the speed of light from a CVO going going backward.  BRB

We get grouper throats sometimes - excellent!

Have not been to Joes in.... I don't know - a long time.  Last time went to Montys for stone crab.

Good info on the Jims - the 131 must be $550.

Not with a malflirted gigalator. Adjusting the gigalator takes a specialist. Your HD dealer can't do that neither.

I knew a malflirted gigalator once.  She made my head spin.  Luckily after that I did not have to see a specialist.

Hey that's only a couple miles from the Deauville Beach Resort.  Is that worth a cab ride on the 24th?  My wife and daughter don't eat seafood (cheap dates though) are there land lubber entrees?  Menu wasn't on the website.

Yeah, but it was a swisher sweet.  I don't think I'd try it with an $8 cigar.  Did it on a Road King once and the ashes were swirling around and blowing in my eyes.  Definitely better on the ultra.

Same experience on the RK.  Have not smoked a Swisher Sweet in a long time.  May burn one on the ride to the lake tonight on the Ultra.

I like the tipperillo, allows both hands for the handlebars and keeping mouth closed keeps the bugs out.  I'd like to find a better quality tipperillo to keep in the bike.

A locker full of Swisher Sweets would not be impressive?

A can to collect filters in the door mayhaps?

 ;)

Have not smoked one in at least 25 years.

Nice selection, what does "Aromatic" mean?  Here are all the choices.

http://www.jrcigars.com/index.cfm?page=cigars&brand=TIPARILLO

No idea what it means.  I have had good luck with cigars from JR.  Have bought their 5 Star brand with Maduro wrappers & some samplers.

Had a Cubano on Monday.  Honestly a Cuban ceegar.  Burnt like chit.  Sideways usually then would go out. Tasted ok but would not even stay lit.

Have decided these are chit - no band no clue who made these except are from Cuba.

Yup, the sign of a true cuban cigar...When you are here, in Del Ray, we can smoke AJ stogies he left in my locker,

We will smoke good...I have 7 left of the Padron 80th anny in maduro.  The best rollers are now in Central America and the Bahamas, try a Greycliff purple label to get that  cuban nota cuban smoke... Or the big bamboo 18", 60 ring gage...

Cuban cigars are crap from what I have smoked over the past couple of years.

Padron 80th are hard to get.  You know ceegars.   :2vrolijk_21:

I know which end to light usually and even got a couple of Calibre lighters this year.

Why didn't you use the credit card?

Because I didn't want you to know that the AK-20 front suspension cost $400!

AK-20? Is that the model number for the Traxxion front end??

Tatuaje makes some good smokes, I have not smoked those in particular, I prefer stronger smokes in maduro wrapper.

What do you like? I can check my guy, I'm at %20 off retail, I'll be riding by on 75 Saturday am!

PM 6 caliper brakes, rotors, etc. Approx $2.5K. Don't ask me how I know this.

NO, I know better. CHERI thinks everything was done for a tad under $750.  ;D

Cheri,

My financial & spiritual advisor, Ken would never spend more than $750.  Nuh-uh.  And you can bet the farm (if you do not have a farm you can bet something else like a good garden hose with adjustable sprayer nozzle maybe?) that of the money spent, $749.99 is carefully & lovingly spent for your ongoing comfort, pleasure, and enjoyment ONLY.  It really is all about you.

 ;D ;D ;D

BTW - $2.5k is new math for $25.00.   :nixweiss:

I hope this clears that up.   :pepper:

It is all about the BSR.

I heard that somewhere.

It might have been from my BSR?   :nixweiss:

:pepper:

Mike

Actually it's for my "comfort and safety". At least that's the usual "argument" (uummmmm...I mean debate, no wait, discussion??)  :huepfenlol2: If ANYONE here can determine if a cup is half empty or full, I'm pretty sure that's MY forte'. ;)

I truly do understand the new math *proud smiles* Weirdly enough, the bank and credit cards use the OLD math (sheesh, they need some CPE credits in NEW math or what??)

So I guess I'm sayin', it's as clear as that old muddy river that runs along this great state or KY!! BUT, I will admit to loving mississippi mud pie  :huepfenlol2:

My new road sofa was only a little more than my pickup...Its how I look at it anyway and besides it was for Schmoops comfort and safety, of which she has not had was smart enough the pleasure of experiencing yet

Adding the price paid for EVERY vehicle I have ever owned (3, all used) does not equal what I paid for my road sofa.  I've been lucky enough to have a car my Dad owned to drive in high school and college and also to have jobs that provided company cars.

Banks work on our tax money now.  We pay taxes to the gummint so the gummint can give our money to the banks so banks can loan money to us so we can pay taxes to the gummint.

Appears to be some sort of scam to me.   :nixweiss:

Spending money on a CVO is way better than that tax/bank/gummint scam stuff.  Plus spending it on anything Miker says to spend it on.

My BSR knows I would never spend more money than I absolutely needed to on anything.  Except our first mailbox.  Long story - sad ending.  Expensive mailbox.

Gaaaa, mail box horrors...I need a new post, the termites got my post and apathy got the box...It is just velcoed on, so when the little bastits go mailbox smashing mine pops off wimpishly and is no fun.  It hasn't been whacked in 4 or 5 years now...I will not spend money on a mailbox as I believe the post office should give them away..

Will not tell the mailbox story here.  Very sad - several mailboxes were destroyed in failed installation attempts.  Long time ago.........

Too bad about those termites and the bastits.

The post office delivers our mail to other people who sometimes bring it to us.  Sort of a lottery or raffle, basically.  Current mailbox is in a brick thingy that has been knocked over by a drunk & rebuilt once.  Sometimes it gets nudged & I take the riding lawn mower & nudge it back into place.  BTE, my lawn mower does have a trailer hitch.

I'll tell my mailbox story here. Late one night I heard brakes lock down, tires sliding on pavement followed by a loud bang and crash. I figured it was drunks hitting my mailbox again, so, I loaded a 9 MM auto and dropped it in my back pocket. I drove down the driveway since it was 1/4 mile long and I'm too lazy to walk. Sure enough there was a car upside down in the ditch and my mailbox was again torn to hell. The car reminded me of a dead horse with all fours sticking up. The wheels were still spinning and steam was spewing out from under the hood and the lights were still shining up into the sky. They were inside screaming for help as all of the doors were stuck. I tried to open all 4 doors and none of them would budge. I finally got my feet up against the car and my fingers behind the door, and managed to finally pry a door 1/2 open. I don't think a "normal" man could have done it. Beer cans started rolling out by the dozen. After finally getting all of them out, the driver was only worried about the lights still being on, and a cop giving him a DUI. I decided he was right, the lights needed to be off. So, I broke them out with the butt of the 9 MM. There was a 12 y/o girl in the car. When the coppers got there, their story was that she was driving.

I think I should have just left them traped in the car, as they never fixed or paid for my mailbox.

That story is from his pre "awesome BSR/cup holder/harley bikini babe" ;) hahaha

I'd woulda had him shoot the lights out fer chit's sake!

BTW...mail boxes are overrated and generally deliver someone named "bill". I wanna SO bad meet that guy named "check"!! I did however get something named "tim, eerrr stim... stimulus!!" that would have been really cool but the tax dollars on fuel tax due to outrageous increases (and ken's need to ride the harley "round da block" to test the Jim's 120) ate that guy up and ain't spit him back out yet?

Oh sheesh, I'm in the wrong thread ....someone ask that zumo biatch Jill directions to the hijack thread!  :huepfenlol2:

I already have a leaky 110, so not much more to be thankful for.  In Brazil they use REAL dollars, not the US kind since ours are all being loaned to Warren Buffet so he can start that chain of restaurants I named for him - Warren Buffet's.  He could make enough money to get rich even.  :pepper:

I am from so far in the sticks when I was a kid I never even saw a drawing of a picture of a cool kid.  I heard about them - as I remember they all had pogo sticks. We had bois d'arc tree sticks & wrote "pogo" on them but it did not make us cool.......   :'(

Here is my mailbox story

3 years ago our neighbor across the street was doing a job for a lady [building horse saddle racks]. She backed out of his driveway and right over our mailbox. She exited her truck and proceeded to cuss me out for putting my mailbox where it was.  :soapbox:

The next year my neighbor was having a party at his house and low and behold the sister of the earlier mailbox cremation backed out of the driveway and ran over our less than 1 year old mailbox. She also cursed me out for 1-damaging her truck and 2-for damaging her sisters truck.....with my mailbox :nixweiss:

Neither sister replaced our mailbox. The second sister did bring me a twisted 4x4 post to replace the broken one, but it was soo tristed and warped that nothing could be made from it.

I guess on the bright side....with the way our legal system is.....that they did not sue me for my mailbox damaging their trucks :coolblue:

Sorry JD.

This is a post- "awesome BSR/cup holder/harley bikini babe"  mailbox story.

We have a really old ratty mailbox. The post is rotten and twisted. The box is cracked and setting all whoppy jawed. Whenever you slide your hand in there to recover the mail, there's screws sticking through that will pierce you without warning. It really looks like it's ready to fall off.

In the garage I have a brand new fancy mailbox. It has my name and address on it. It's been there for like 3 years now. The only One of the reasons I haven't put it up yet is I know when I do, someone will run over it and demolish it. Why would anyone want to run over a ratty mailbox?

Another reason I haven't put it up yet, is I've been busy riding a lot.

Another reason I haven't put it up yet, is whenever I'm not working sleeping or riding, I want to spend with my awesome BSR/cup holder/harley bikini babe wife.

Another reason I haven't put it up yet is the price of lumber. I'd have to buy a 4 x 4 post. I'm watching the market closely to catch it at rock bottom.  ;D

But the main reason is I'm too damn lazy.
