According to my dealer the 09 replaced bracket will fit the 07.  However, I didn't see them install it.

Does anyone know if I could put the "old, 50078-09" bracket on a '07?

I would love it if my '07 would lean over farther....

Brad
I think it would make no difference, as the "old" '09 bracket did not take into account the changes of the Touring frame, hence the bike leaned too far. Your '07 does not have the new Touring frame, of course.

Ride safely,

all I can say is that I got my new one yesterday, rode it home, parked it in the garage the same way my '07 was parked and the '09 was more vertical than my '07.  I don't know if they have changed the jiffy stand or not since production began, but that is what I found.

I had my "recall" bracket installed last weekend.  Made a huge difference.  Getting the bike vertical now doesn't remind me just how heavy this bike is any more.   ;D ;D    Strongly encourage everyone to take advantage of this mod.  As it is a recall, no cost to the owner.  Takes .3 manhours per my dealer.

Yes, I changed mine out to and the bike sits much higher .

Took the dealer 20 minutes.

How much is there to taking off that bracket to check it myself?  My dealer said they checked it and it was okay, but I still think mine leans way too much.  I'm starting to have some concerns about whether my dealer is following through on the things I ask them to check.  On top of that, I found a dent on the top of my fender tonight after getting it back from them, when they installed my new GPS module.  I think someone there is getting careless and trying to shortcut things.  Now I wonder if all I got was an expensive oil change for the service intervals.  My friend just got his inspected there, and when he got home, the first thing he noticed was a turn signal burnt out that they didn't catch, and a big scratch on the his muffler.  I'd like to check out my jiffy stand myself, as I have it in print that they said it has the correct one on there.  I really don't think they checked it.  I just don't want to take it off, put it back on, then let the bike down and have my bike fall over.

Looks like it would be easy with the exception of keeping the bike up and the spring that loads the bike.  My dealer took off the floor board had a "special" tool to remove the spring.  I wasn't to excited about not doing it right and having the bike on the floor.

It made a huge difference.

You dont have to remove it to check it, if you check the Picture on the service bulletin the correct bracket has raised letters OE stamped on the back upper left side (from the front) just next to the indentation in the middle of the bracket near the top edge, you can easily check with your finger tip . Sounds to me like your dealer lied to you, the correct bracket eliminates any excessive lean.

Here's a picture of my bracket illustrating dartman's comment above.  (And no cracks about how dirty my bike is, please.)

I stared at that picture for a while before I finally realized that was a little mirror showing the OE.

What, you don't have that little mirror on your bike?

Now I know that my dentist better not leave his laying around, since I now have found a use for one.
